What’s Going on with Estero Blvd?

Segment 1 of reFRESH Estero Blvd., from Crescent Street to Lovers Lane, is in its final stages, while Segment 2, from Lovers Lane to Publix is gearing up for some major work.

Contractors for the Town of Fort Myers Beach and Lee County are installing new water main, sanitary sewer force main, storm drainage, sidewalks and rebuilding roadway on Estero Boulevard from Lovers Lane to Dakota Avenue.

Road crews will not work on July 4th

Segment 1 Crescent Street to Lovers Lane

From 7am to 7pm, weather permitting and NOT on July 4th, crews are applying thermoplastic pavement markings in Segment 1. They include center turn lane arrows, crosswalks, trolley stops and “sharrows.”

Sharrow markings are a reminder that bicycles and vehicles share the traffic lane. They are used in areas without a bike lane. Bikes may still use the sidewalks if they wish. Segment 1 has only a 50-foot right-of-way, leaving no room for separate bike lanes. The remainder of Estero Blvd. from Red Coconut to the Big Carlos Bridge will have dedicated bike lanes.

Crews are working on punch list items in Segment 1 – areas that are not quite right and that includes center lane pavers in some areas. If there is anything regarding Estero Blvd. near your home or business that is not quite right or you think was not completed, report it as soon as possible to Cella Molnar & Associates at 239-337-1071 or email kmolnar@cella.cc.

Segment 2 Lovers Lane to Madera Road

The water main is being installed on the beach side of Estero Blvd and connections to bay side streets. Crews continue to clear the right-of-way between Red Coconut and Donora Blvd.

Between Hercules Drive and Publix, grading and temporary paving Estero Blvd is underway.

Segment 3 Madera Road to Dakota Avenue

Crews are drilling underground and installing force main pipe between Bayland Road and Williams Drive. Flaggers will assist motorists using impacted side streets. The right-of-way is being cleared by crews between Publix and Williams Drive.
