Next Friday, November 11, 2016, will mark Veteran’s Day honoring all those who have served in the Untied States Armed Forces. While Memorial Day honors those who died in military service, Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans. Local veterans clubs are planning services to mark the day.
Vets Club of America, 16701 San Carlos Blvd, will begin their festivities at 11am on Friday, November 11th with an honor guard, comments by Commander George Rook, followed by Lee County Under Sheriff Carmine Marceno. Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 10097, 17770 Pine Ridge Rd, will host a flag raising ceremony at 11am, followed by picnic fare offered inside the post. The public is welcome to attend. 239-466-6400
American Legion Post 274, 899 Buttonwood, also plans an 11 am flag raising ceremony that is open to the public. 239-463-6591
As an official U.S. holiday, County and Town offices are closed. The Beach Library will also be closed on Friday, November 11, 2016.
