Tracey Gore Announces Candidacy

1178

My name is Tracey Gore. I am running for Town Council because I love this island and the fabulous people within it. I have researched in depth the issues that stand before us. I listen to my fellow residents and I stand up for their interests. I respect the value of each dollar that taxpayers worked so hard to earn and now entrust our Town to spend wisely.

Together, we create an amazing community character found nowhere else. I want to preserve that character even through a time of rapid re-development. Twenty years ago we incorporated to protect our small-town island “fishing village” by coming together with common goals and a vision which is clearly laid out in our Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Codes. They serve us well when we follow them. I will follow them.

I have lived my life here and have historical knowledge critical to understanding the function and needs of our community. I went to Beach Elementary and graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University. My husband and I raised our children and run our commercial shrimping business here. I have served on town committees and community organizations. Each commitment has further strengthened my passion for this town and its people.

PUBLIC RELATIONS / COMMUNICATION: BA degree, Communications/Public Relations/Marketing

GOVERNMENT: Internship, State Attorney’s Office; Town Public Safety Task Force; Downtown Ad Hoc Committee

WORK ETHIC / VALUE OF A DOLLAR: I started working at age 14 at the Reef Restaurant and have worked ever since. I value hard work and practice fiscal responsibility.

BUDGET MANAGEMENT: Managed multi-million dollar shipyard (finances, inventory, AP/AR, payroll, insurances, licensing, client and stockholder relations, outside contractors); Co-owner/manager, local commercial shrimping business.

EVENT PLANNING: special events/production coordinator for hundreds of SW Florida concerts, fundraisers, and special events.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: Lions Club Shrimp Festival, Beach Kids Foundation, Ostego Bay Foundation, FMB 4th of July Fireworks Committee, Beach School PTO.

My goals include upholding our Comprehensive Plan and land development codes, protecting island quality of life, guiding development within the vision we islanders created together, maintaining a level playing field for local businesses, protecting our beach environment and historic resources, and to pursue County and grant contributions for the stormwater system and all other eligible town projects.

I ask for your vote so that I may serve the best interests of our island community. Follow me at www.Tgore2016.com. I appreciate your support.
