Fort Myers Beach will celebrate its 19th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on Friday, March 17th with a parade, along with pre-parade and post-parade festivities. The parade will consist of color guards, civic, business and neighborhood groups, floats and musical bands.

    Parade

The Parade begins at 10 am at Santini Marina Plaza, marching to the Church of the Ascension. Those participating in the parade are asked to be in the Plaza parking lot between 8:30-9:00am. Following the parade the Knights of Columbus will sell hot dogs & chips with sauerkraut available plus beverages in the church parking lot.

Parade Chairman Ray Murphy asks that anyone interested in participating in the parade contact him by noon, Monday, March 13 at 239-591-8803 or raymurphy6@aol.com to arrange registration and entry fees.

Estero Boulevard will be closed from Santini Marina Plaza to Lanark Street, north of Ascension Church, from about 9:45-10:45am Friday for the parade with the assistance of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone needing to exit the island south that morning should plan to leave before the road closure begins.

    It’s All Green

The festivities begin at Santini Plaza where Castaway’s will open at 8am for their pre-parade party. Live music begins at 8am and at 9am they will have traditional bagpipers playing your favorite Irish tunes. Live music continues at Castaway’s until 1am.

Even if you can’t make it to Santini Plaza there are St. Patrick’s Day parties happening all over the beach. No matter where you go to celebrate, all the locations listed with have your traditional corned beef and cabbage and most will have green beer, or at least beer in green bottles.

Of course our local Irish bar, Shamrock’s Irish Pub, will be having their famous annual St. Patrick’s Day party from 1-6pm. There will be beer specials and green jello shots that you can enjoy while rocking out to Casey’s Houserockers. Robbie will be creating his corned beef & cabbage and Reuben’s to go along with that green beer.

Moving north all the way to the bridge there will be St. Patrick’s Day parties occurring at Matanzas on the Bay and Nervous Nellie’s. At Matanzas on the Bay, they’ll be featuring Chef Dave’s Famous Corned Beef & Cabbage Buffet starting at 11am with live music from noon-9pm.

Nervous Nellie’s is taking aim at a world record for the most Corned Beef and Cabbage consumed. Last year 2,500 lbs. were consumed at their St. Paddy’s Day Bash. They’re hoping for an even 3,000 lbs. this year. Stop by and help them out! They’ll also have live music with Deb & the Dynamics from 1-4pm and The Dweebs from 5-9pm.

You’ll have to pace yourself to hit all the great parties just in the downtown area because the Yucatan Beach Stand will also be ‘partying in the parking lot’ to benefit the Calusa Waterkeepers. Their parking lot will be filled with live music, plus vendors and a full day of raffles and prizes, corned beef and cabbage, green beer and St. Patrick’s Day t-shirts!

The Pickle N Pub, located at 15455 Old McGregor Blvd, will host a St. Patrick’s Day party with live music from 11am-midnight with green beer and corned beef & cabbage.

St. Patrick’s Day will be well celebrated from one end of Estero Island to the other, plus a few spots off island. These are just a few places that shared their party plans with us. Check out these plus your local watering holes for some fun this March 17th!

With a list like this, there’s no way you can avoid having some Irish fun this St. Patrick’s Day. Erin Go Bragh and Sláinte!
