A group of Islanders interested in supporting Bay Oaks Recreation Center will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, August 17th at 5:30pm at Bay Oaks Rec Center.
Much like the Mound House has had a supportive Friends of the Mound House for many years, organizers hope that a similar 501c3 organization can help spread the word to Islanders and visitors about the programs available at Bay Oaks Rec Center (BORC) and the Pool and raise funds to support the Rec Center.
The purpose of the kick-off August 17th meeting is to provide an update on the status of the Friends of BORC and identify the next step forward. Organizer Denise Monahan asks that anyone interested in supporting the Rec Center and its programs come to the meeting and bring their friends and neighbors. She invites feedback and welcomes all ideas and volunteers.
Membership details will be available at a later date for businesses and individuals.
The August 17th meeting will be a one-hour introduction meeting. Child care will be available.
“Everyone has been so, so supportive!” said Monahan. “I hope a lot of people come out to our meeting and share their ideas.”
