    PIER CLOSURE     

    The Fort Myers Beach Fishing Pier at Lynn Hall Park will be closed through FR Sept 13 for pest control. It will reopen on SA Sept 14, weather permitting. The Pier will be closed weekdays MO – FR from Mo Sept 16 to FR Sept 27 for roofing work and maintenance. The pier will open during weekends from sundown Friday to sunrise Monday. All other amenities at Lynn Hall Park, except the Pier, will remain open with regular hours.

    COASTAL CLEANUP

    The debris on our beaches and in our waterways is a public health threat and a serious danger to our ocean ecosystems. Keep Lee County Beautiful (KLCB) and the FMB Community Foundation invites everyone to help make a difference by participating in The International Coastal Cleanup on SA Sept 21 from 9am – noon. They will provide trash bags, gloves, t-shirts, cold water and healthy snacks. For Fort Myers Beach efforts, check in at FMB Elementary School, 2751 Oak St, FMB by 9am SA Sept 21.     SUNSET CONCERTS

    Each Friday and Saturday, free Sunset Celebration concerts from 5-10pm fill Times Square offering an entertaining musical backdrop to a spectacular sunset. On FR Sept 13 & 20, High Tide will play; SA Sept 14 Remedy will entertain and on SA Sept 21 MFYF. Show is pet and kid friendly. Stop by and enjoy the beach, restaurants, street performers, cold beverages and a beautiful sunset! Sunset Celebrations are sponsored by The Times Square Merchant & Event Association, The Town of Fort Myers Beach and The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel.

    BAHAMAS RELIEF

    Bahamas Relief supplies for the Dorian Supply Drive at Baywater Boat Club can be dropped off at the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce, 2450 Estero Blvd, Fort Myers Beach through 4pm MO Sept 16. The items most needed: water, canned goods, manual can openers, TP, paper towels, feminine hygiene products, diapers, premixed baby formula, mosquito spray, sunscreen, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, flashlights and batteries. All donations must be at the Chamber by 4pm MO Sept 16.

    LITTLE LEAGUE   

    The Fort Myers Beach Little League will hold its annual meeting on MO Sept 16 at 7pm at the Bay Oaks Little League office. The purpose of the annual meeting is the election of the Board of Directors for the coming year. Only those regular members in good standing will be eligible to vote (all active volunteers from the previous season are considered in good standing, such as coaches, umpires, concession workers, etc.) Anyone who wishes to join the board is asked to attend this meeting.     HEARING LOSS

    On TU Sept 17 from noon – 2pm, Thrive Senior Living will present a complimentary lunch and presentation by Dr. Ann Rasmussen of Doctor’s Hearing, on hearing loss, balance and new technology. She will provide free basic screenings as time allows. Kim Catania, Title IV ADA Specialist, will follow with a presentation on ClearCaptions – a free phone captioning service – Where Words Matter.     GRUB CLUB

    Bring your lunch and join the Grub Club at the picnic pavilion at Koreshan State Park and learn about a naturalist topic from a Florida Master Naturalist. On WE Sept 18 from 12-1pm, learn about Butterflies. Learn the difference between moths and butterflies, how butterflies develop, plants that support butterflies, netting techniques, tagging & more. Programs are free with park entry. Entry is $5 per vehicle with 2-8 occupants; $4 for a single occupant vehicle and $2 for pedestrians and bicyclists. For more information call 239-992-0311.     TAPA HOP

    Hop aboard the 17th annual FMB Tapa Hop on TH, Sept 19 from 3-10pm, sponsored by the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce. This annual event will begin at 3pm at Fish Tale Waterfront Dining. Trolleys will then take “Hoppers” to seven different local restaurants featuring great food, cash bars, raffle prizes and a Grand Prize that you won’t want to miss. Trolley captains will decorate their trolleys with this year’s theme, “Classic TV Shows.” Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 at the door, if seats remain. Get tickets here or call

    ISLAND HOPPER

    The 6th annual Island Hopper Songwriters Fest will feature Rodney Atkins in a ticketed event on the final night of the festival, SU, Sept 29 at Pink Shell Resort on Fort Myers Beach. The Island Hopper is a 10-day festival that kicks off on Captiva Island Sept. 20 – 22, then moves to downtown Fort Myers Sept 23 – 26 and wraps up on Fort Myers Beach Sept 27 – 29. The fest provides a unique opportunity to interact with songwriters and hear the stories behind the hit songs. More than 60 performances will be held on Fort Myers Beach, all free except for the Rodney Atkins show.     The Fort Myers Beach Library offers over 86,000 titles.
