School’s out on May 30th for Lee County Schools. With only a couple months until that magic day of freedom for school kids, it’s time to be thinking about summer camps. With a range of camps and costs, there’s something for everyone. But don’t delay as some camp weeks are already filled up.

Bay Oaks

Island kids have some great summer camp opportunities this year right at Bay Oaks Recreation Center where weekly Summer Camp are offered June 3 – August 9. Meeting Monday-Friday from 7:30am-6pm, camp offers weekly field trips, swimming, arts and crafts, sports and a friendly environment for ages 5-13. Beginning at $75/week for members or $100/week for non-members. Scholarships available. To register or for more information call 239-765-4222. Sailing Camp

The 13th annual Sailing Camp at the Mound House will be held June 3 – 7 for kids ages 8-11. Learn the fundamentals of sailing or perfect your skills with this weeklong sailing camp. Camp is held 8:30am-3:00pm each day. Cost is $225. Students must be able to swim. They should also bring a properly fitted PFD, closed toe shoes with a strap and clothing that can get wet. Class is taught by U.S. Sailing-certified instructors and junior instructors. Kids learn how to rig, launch and sail their boat independently, while developing an appreciation for safety afloat. Following a successful launch last year, Mound House Super Science Summer Day Camps are back, bigger and better, this year. Film, cooking, robotics and science are all on tap. Week-long camps are offered June 3 – August 2, except for the week of July 4th.

Moviemaking Magic is offered June 3-7 and July 22-26; Engineering June 10-14 & July 29-Aug 2; Calusa Kids June 17 -21; Kitchen Chemistry June 24 -28; Real Robotics July 8-12 and Best of Super Science and Amazing Art on July 15 -19.

Ostego Bay

Ostego Bay Marine Science Center offers campers ages 6-15 the chance to explore some of our beautiful barrier islands and the waters of Estero Bay during weekly Summer Camp held in June & July. Field and beach trips introduce campers to sea grass communities, mangrove tangles and more. Camp begins at the Marine Science Center, 718 Fisherman’s Wharf, on San Carlos Island with field trips throughout the estuary. Meets Monday-Friday 9am-4pm.

Campers are grouped by age with Sea Stars Camp for those who have finished K to 3rd Grade; Loggerheads Camp for Grades 4-6 and Tiger Sharks Camp for those who have completed Grade 6 and up. Sea Stars Camp is offered June 3-7; June 24-28; July 8-12 and July 15-19. Loggerheads Camp June 3-7; June 24-28;July 15-19 and July 22-26. Tiger Sharks Camp is offered June 17-21.

Edison Ford Estates

Looking beyond Fort Myers Beach, Edison Ford Estates offers Inventor’s Summer Camps for ages 6-12 from June 3 – August 9. Fantastic Film Makers, Water Wizardry, Video Game Developers, Invent it!, Robots, 3-D Art & Design and River Ecology are offered. Camp length and cost varies.
