Sugar Politics

While I enjoyed the letter last week from Larry to Boycott sugar as a measure to regain control of water flows from the lake, I must point out that this would never be successful in reducing their part of this power struggle. There is not one sugar producer in the US that will ever take a loss due to the Federal government’s farm subsidy policy. All growers are guaranteed payments from the government even if they have a bad season, either from a bad crop year or reduced demand for sugar. Why do you think we in the US pay more for sugar (both as a consumer and in food products) per pound for sugar then the rest of the world? Sugar politics!

So with elections coming up we need to call on all of our representatives (Local, state and federal) to not accept contributions from the sugar lobby, if they do it is a conflict of interests for clean water in Florida!
