This coming Saturday, May 14th, is the annual NALC Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. This event was originally conceived by the National Association of Letter Carriers union and has grown to include the US Postal Service and each of the other labor unions. As we are getting closer and closer to the tranquility of summertime on the beach, it’s important for us to remember those less fortunate in our community, especially the children and elderly. Each year, through the generosity of our beach community, our post office collects several thousands of pounds of food towards that end. With the help of mail carriers, local volunteers and the folks at The Harry Chapin Food Bank in Fort Myers, donations of non-perishable (unopened) food items will be collected and transported to Harry Chapin for distribution to those that need it most.
All help and donations matter. Donations can be placed at their mailbox on Saturday or dropped off at the post office. We appreciate anything you can do to help get the word out to the community, especially the last of the snowbirds who may be clearing their cupboards for the summer.
