Fort Myers Beach will begin to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday, March 16, with the 21st annual St. Patrick’s Day parade on the south end of the island beginning at 10am with numerous other celebrations to follow island-wide on Saturday and into Sunday, March 17.
The Parade begins at 10 am at Santini Marina Plaza, marching to the Church of the Ascension. The parade includes color guards, civic, business and neighborhood groups, floats and musical bands. Parade participants must be registered (call Parade Chairman Ray at 239-591-8803) and in the Plaza parking lot by 8:30am. Following the parade the Knights of Columbus will sell hot dogs & chips plus beverages in the Ascension Church parking lot.
Estero Boulevard will be closed from Santini Marina Plaza to Lanark Street, north of Ascension Church, from 9:45-11am Saturday for the parade with the assistance of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone needing to exit the island south that morning should plan to leave before the road closes.
It’s All Green
There are St. Patrick’s Day parties happening all over the beach Saturday & Sunday. No matter where you go to celebrate, all the locations listed with have traditional corned beef and cabbage and most will have green beer, green shots or at least beer in green bottles. You’ll be ready for the green flash at sunset.
Saturday, March 16
Following the parade, everyone is invited to the Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club, 175 Sterling St, FMB, where a St. Patrick’s Day party with Irish Music, a Photo Booth and Irish food will be available until 3pm. Proceeds benefit the Woman’s Club.
Sunday, March 17
Of course the Island’s Irish bar, Shamrock Irish Pub, 2201 Estero Blvd, FMB, will be having their famous annual outdoor St. Paddy’s Day party on Sunday from 11am-6pm. They will be rocking out to Play Dead from 1-5pm with giveaways all day.
Nervous Nellie’s, 1131 First St, FMB, is taking aim at a world record for the most Corned Beef & Cabbage consumed beginning at noon and going until 10pm. They invite everyone to stop by and be part of the record-setting event. They’ll have live music all day with Live Wire and The Dweebs.
Matanzas on the Bay, 416 Crescent St, FMB, will be featuring Dave’s Dockside Famous Corned Beef & Cabbage Buffet starting at 11am with live music from Noon-9pm by Wayne DeLoria and Sailor Larry.
Shuckers at the Gulfshore, 1250 Estero Blvd, FMB, will be serving traditional Irish food on Sunday, March 17, along with plenty of music on the Gulf.
Yucatan Beach Stand will be hosting their St. Patrick’s Day Parking Lot Bash on Sunday from 11am – 8pm on Sunday with Live Music and themed vendors.
The Shark Bar & Grill, 19030 San Carlos Blvd, FMB, will also host a Benefit for Bunker Hill and St. Patrick’s Day outdoor party on Sunday starting with Bikers for Bunker Sunday Confession, smoked corned beef and cabbage dinner and live music by the Collaboration Band from 12-3pm and Biscuit Miller & the Mix from 5-8pm.
The Nauti Parrot will host a St. Paddy’s Day on the Bay party with Live Music from Radio Ghost from 1-5pm and Dan Middlebrook from 6-10pm.
Castaway’s, 7205 Estero Blvd, FMB, begins their festivities early, at 8am on Saturday, for their pre-parade party & buffet. Their party continues after the Saturday parade and on Sunday, when doors open at 9am. Their St. Patrick’s Day menu will be available at 10am.
Pinchers Fort Myers Beach at the Wyndham Garden has an all weekend party March 16 & March 17 from 11am – 10pm.
