Shrimp Festival Next Month


    The most popular weekend event on Fort Myers Beach is just a month away! The 59th Fort Myers Beach Loins Club Shrimp Festival will take place March 11 & 12, 2017, though you don’t have to wait that long to begin enjoying Shrimp Festival fun.

    The Lions Club Kids Shrimp Run –This fun 1-mile kids event has been brought back and will be held on the beach on Saturday, March 4th. The Cypress Lake High School Boosters will manage this event. Watch for details.

    5K Shrimp Run – Run by the Cypress Lake High School Boosters, this fun run is set to begin at Doc Ford’s on Saturday, March 11 at 9am.

    Shrimp Festival Parade – This 1.5-mile long parade is planned to begin at 10am on Saturday, March 11th. The parade route will begin at Bay Rd and end at the Festival Grounds in Lynn Hall Park. With a good portion of Estero Blvd along the parade route completed, this will be a fun parade. But remember, no beads allowed. The Matanzas Bridge will close at 9am, so plan to be on the island early.

    Shrimp Festival Queen Pageant – The crowning of the Queen takes place at 1pm on Saturday, March 11th on Festival Grounds. Watch for the Shrimp Princesses in the parade and join the fun of the pageant at the pavilion in the park.

    Food, Fun Crafts Expo – More than 100 vendors offering crafts, great food and unique gifts on the Festival Grounds. Open 10am-6pm Saturday; 10am-5pm Sunday.

    Lions Shrimp Dinners – Local Pink Gold shrimp prepared by those who really know how to cook’em. They’ve come close to serving a ton last year – that’s 2,000 lbs. so don’t miss this! Hours 10am-5pm Saturday: 10am until they run out Sunday. Hint: Shortest lines after 1:30pm.

    Shrimp Eating Championship – This contest was such a success last year that it’s back! A previous year’s winner ate 1.4 lbs. in 3 minutes. Can you top that? 1pm Sunday, March 12 at Lynn Hall Park. Contestants must be over 18. The Shrimp Eating Champion will be awarded a 1st place grand prize basket. A People’s Choice trophy and prize basket will be awarded to the person who collects the most $1 donations from the crowd and online. Entry and sponsorship fee of $250 must be received by March 4.
