Sea Pork Correction

52

I want to thank Gary Mooney for his excellent article on the guided beach walks at Newton Park. Gayle and I have a wonderful time exploring the shoreline and sharing our enthusiasm for the treasures that we find. You perfectly captured the spirit of these walks.

I would like to make one small correction. Sea pork seems to have gotten an undeserved promotion. As much as I’m a fan of sea pork, it really is still an invertebrate. It has a notochord (a primitive beginning of a backbone) and because of that, this odd looking blob shares the phylum Chordata with us vertebrates.

Thanks again for the wonderful article. See you on the beach!
