The Island community turned out last Thursday to support Beach Elementary School and they did it by attending the Schoolhouse Rock Concert hosted by the Fort Myers Beach Friends of the Arts. The FMB Friends of the Arts hold a Winter Concert Series each year with seasonal monthly concerts held in the “Propeller Lounge,” a boat barn with surprisingly good acoustics, or on the dock at Fish-Tale Marina. The venue is unique, the music great and attendees have a great time. This year, they added a second concert in February featuring Sheena Brook and Bridgette Tatum that would serve as a fundraiser for the school. Between ticket sales and donations, the concert raised $3,050 for the school. Principal Karen Manzi took to the stage to thank attendees for their support of the school and several school teachers and staff attended the concert.
The next FMB Friends of the Arts concert will be February 7 with The British Invasion at 7pm. Tickets $25 at fmbarts.org or by calling 239-463-3600.
