School Volunteers Recognized

On Wednesday morning, the hard working volunteers at Beach Elementary School got a special treat when students from Kindergarten through 3rd grade honored them with flowers and gift certificates donated from Beach Brew and Bakery.

“Today we honor the people who do a lot of work for us nearly every day,” said Principal Larry Wood. “100 years from now no one will remember what kind of car you drove, what clothes you wore or what kind of house you lived in. But the world will be a better place because you were important in the life of a child.”

Since some of the school’s volunteers are seasonal or could not make it on Wednesday morning, Wood invited those who were present to take pictures with each class: Maryalice Buschbacher, Marilyn Farley (celebrating her 20th anniversary as a school volunteer), Chris Miller, Evelyn Rasberry and Linda Dundee.

Not pictured – but still honored – are volunteers Cindy and George Ballantyne, Brenda Battles, Kathy DelBalzo, Debbie Kildow, Diane O’Hearn, Diane Pugh, Bernice Spring and Katie Torrence.
