School Tradition, Fun with Cement

34

Fifth graders at Fort Myers Beach Elementary School sign their names in fresh cement in a time-honored Beach School tradition that stretches back to 1972. During their last week at the school, fifth graders, teachers & staff are provided a fresh patch of cement to sign their names. The 40+ blocks are scattered around school grounds. Though some have deteriorated, most remain intact and alums often bring their families to show them their fifth grade signature. For the fourth year, Joe Orlandini & Co, donated the cement and set-up work.
