Robert Treat passed away peacefully on April 23, 2017 in Fort Myers, Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Treat; his sister, Betty Parris; and ten nieces and nephews.
Bob was raised in Newington, CT. He obtained his Business degree from the University of Hartford. Bob served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He started his professional career in banking before going into a business partnership. In 1957, Bob’s business partnership opened a Howard Johnson restaurant in Avon, CT, which they operated until 1975. After selling the restaurant, Bob worked as an assistant store manager at the D&L Department store in Simsbury, CT for a several years before retiring.
Bob was a former president of the Avon Lions Club and the Avon Chamber of Commerce. Bob was also a member of the Lions Club while living in Fort Myers Beach.
After his retirement, Bob and Pat enjoyed spending winters in Fort Myers Beach and traveling, visiting many international destinations.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cypress Cove for ensuring his last days were full of peace and comfort.
Memorial services will be held in CT at a later date.
