Family Initiative, Inc., a Southwest Florida nonprofit dedicated to supporting children who have autism and strengthening their families, raised more than $8,000 for local families at its 3rd Annual “Reeling for Autism” fishing tournament and silent auction event at Nervous Nellie’s on Fort Myers Beach.
Hundreds of locals attended the event – which included the tournament, silent auction and other family activities – to raise money and awareness of autism, which affects 1 in 59 children across the country. Dozens of children practiced fishing from the dock while live music and raffles encouraged participation from Nervous Nellie’s patrons.
“Our team is so appreciative of the support we get from our families, local businesses and our community,” said David Brown, President of Family Initiative, Inc. “The money we raise will go directly to services we provide to children and youth with autism.”
