    The Fort Myers Beach Fire Department invites the public to join them for an Open House on SA Feb 8 from 10am -12noon at Station 33, 121 Lenell Rd, FMB. Light refreshments will be provided.


    Join the  FMB Pirate Pub Crawl on SA Feb 8 beginning at the Matanzas on the Bay patio. Register from 11am-12noon for $5 each or $20 for 5 or more. Prizes for those who capture 8 Doubloons from the list of over 15 bars provided at registration. Pub Crawl ends at Nervous Nellie’s at 4:30pm, with an after-party. Raffles and a costume contest at 5pm. All proceeds benefit the December 2020 Pirate Fest.


    Bayside Estates Men’s Club hosts a monthly Pancake Breakfast every 2nd Sunday through March at the Bayside Recreation Hall. All are invited to attend. Their next breakfast will be held SU Feb 9 from 8-11am. Enjoy scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee, OJ and all you can eat pancakes for just $6. Omelets available for an extra $1. Bayside Estates is located just off San Carlos Blvd, south of Pine Ridge Rd. Look for signs at the entrance. Proceeds support Hope Hospice.


    Join the Estero Island Historic Society on MO, Feb 10 at 7pm at St. Raphael’s Church for the February speaker, Dr. Darren Rumbold, Program Director of the Coastal Watershed Institute and Professor with Vester Marine & Environmental Science Research Field Station at Florida Gulf Coast University. Dr. Rumbold will present, “The Evolution of South Florida’s Water Quality Issues” covering from 1881 to the present. Open to the public. No admission charged, but donations welcome.


    The Mound House Lecture Series continues on TU Feb 11 with Dave Scheidecker, Research Coordinator for the Tribal Historic Preservation Office, Seminole Tribe of Florida will speak on, “Seminoles of Florida.” Refreshments at 5:30pm; Lecture at 6pm. Cost $10/person ($5/MH members) Cash at door. Limited seating, Reservations required by calling 239-765-0865, Lectures are held on the 2nd TU each month through April. 451 Connecticut.     Join a Park Ranger at Lovers Key State Park on TH Feb 13 or TU Feb 18 at 10am to learn some local fishing tips, including a variety of tackle and fresh bait rigs, best places to drop a line plus the rules and regulations of SWFL fishing. Free with paid park entry. Reservations required by calling 239-463-4588. Park entry is $4 for vehicles with one person; $8 for vehicle with 2-8 people and $2 for pedestrian or cyclist.


    Each Friday and Saturday, free Sunset Celebration concerts from 5-10pm fill Times Square offering an entertaining musical backdrop to a spectacular sunset. Show is pet and kid friendly. Stop by and enjoy the beach, restaurants, street performers, cold beverages and a beautiful sunset!


    Join the Beach United Methodist Church on FR Feb 14 at 6pm for a Valentine’s Dinner Dance. The public is invited and a buffet will be available. Pastor Ivan will be the music DJ for this fun evening of food and dancing. $12/person. Call 239-463-9656 to reserve tickets or for more information.


    The Sock Hop is back. Head to Bay Oaks on FR Feb 14 to enjoy an evening of Great Music, Dancing, Food, Drinks and Nostalgia from 6-9pm, presented by BOSS. Beer & wine available for purchase.     The US Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer a one day Boating Safety Class on SA Feb 15 from 9am to 4pm. This beginner boating class will give the novice recreational boater the knowledge needed to obtain FWC safety certification and covers nautical “Rules of the Road,” boating hazards and navigation rules.     The Knights of Columbus of Ascension Parish will host their annual Valentine’s Dinner Dance on SA Feb 15 in the Parish Hall, 6025 Estero Blvd. Doors open at 5:30pm.  Enjoy a catered dinner and dancing to the music of Sanchez Entertainment. Proceeds benefit the Ascension Knights of Columbus local charities.     The Friends of the Fort Myers Beach Library will host a Book Sale on SA, Feb 15 & SU Feb 16 from 9am – 2pm in the library’s parking garage at 2755 Estero Blvd. You’ll find gently used books, CD’s and DVD’s, puzzles and new items from the bookstore for sale. Plus the Estero Island Garden Club will be on hand with plants and baked goods. Hot coffee will be available from the Library Café. The March Book Sale will be held Mar 21 & 22. The library will be open normal hours: Saturday 9am -1pm. Closed Sunday.


    The local Yacht Club welcomes the public to a half-price Happy Hour & Social at Bayfront Bistro on MO, Feb 17 from 3-6pm. Come see what this long-time local boat club has to offer with year round social and boating activities. Boat not required.


    The Fort Myers Beach Friends of the Arts presents a concert by The Collaboration Band on TH, Feb 20 at 7pm at Fish Tale Marina. Collaboration Band will have you on your feet with an amazing concert featuring Motown, R & B, Soul & more. Ticket’s $30 online at Tickets at door if any remain.


    Chapel by the Sea invites Islanders and visitors to a Dinner Show featuring Tommy O, the international recording and performance artist on FR Feb 21.     On SA Feb 22 beginning at 8:00am, enjoy beautiful Bunche Beach, an excellent birding site with a Bird Patrol Guide. Bunche is an excellent spot for both migrant and resident waders and shorebirds working the mudflats at low tide. Also warblers, waterfowl and raptors.     Join the Ascension Knights of Columbus for their 2nd Annual Special Olympics Walkathon on SA Feb 22 at 9am in the parking lot of Ascension Church, 6025 Estero Blvd, FMB.     The Beach Community Pool offers water exercise classes. Water Aerobics is offered every MO, WE & FR at 9am. It is an energizing form of aerobics that can be enjoyed by everyone. Whether you are looking to kickstart your fitness journey, increase joint mobility, lose weight or just have some fun, water aerobics is for you! Aqua Strength, offered MO & WE at 10am, is a high energy class that will strengthen your muscles, increase your endurance and improve mobility. Class is held in the deep end of the pool using water weights. Aqua Yoga, offered every FR at 10am, is a low impact class that offers a deep stretch, relaxed mind and a fresh start to the day.     There is also a group that plays Thursdays at the Beach Library at 1:30pm in the 3rd floor Community Room. Bring your 2019 cards and sets if you have them. Beginners are welcome; instruction can be provided.
