FMBAA Student Scholarships
On January 23rd at 5pm the Fort Myers Beach Art Association (FMBAA) will host a mesmerizing “Paint Around” Social to raise funds for their Student Scholarship Fund. 100% of the proceeds benefit graduating seniors who will have a show at the Gallery beginning April 7. For a mere $20, attendees will enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres, beverages, prizes and watch art in the making. This year’s “Paint Around” features some award-winning artists: Deborah Butler, Bea Perrin Pappas, Lynne Wesolowski and Helma Gansen.
Our Paint Around involves each artist beginning an original collage work on paper, and then rotating every several minutes until they are back to the original piece that they started. All four artists then sign each artwork since they have contributed to each piece and each is then framed. Raffle prizes and the silent auction of these works will add to fun and festivities. Tickets may be purchased online at www.fortmyersbeachart.com or at the gallery.
“The Purpose of the Art Association shall be to further and provide education in the cultural aspects of life on Fort Myers Beach and its environs; to promote the study, practice, and appreciation of art; to hold art exhibitions and programs, which are open to the public; and to encourage art instruction of children and junior artists.”
The FMBAA fulfills a portion of their mission by providing scholarship funds to graduating seniors and by offering use of the gallery for a high school and middle school student show each spring.
Anyone interested in learning to paint, should consider several short classes and workshops available at the Fort Myers Beach Art Association this season.
The FMBAA Gallery is located at 3030 Shell Mound Blvd., one mile south of the Matanzas Bridge (turn at Donora Blvd by the fire station). The gallery is open daily, Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. Visit the website for updates, class and show schedules at www.fortmyersbeachart.com or call (239) 463-3909.
