The youngest Beach School students got a chance on Monday to learn about what an old-fashioned Christmas was like on Estero Island many years ago.
Mrs. Cribbs Kindergarten and Mrs. Reed’s 1st grade students were treated to a special outing on Monday. They walked the short distance from the school to the Historic Cottage located at the entrance to Matanzas Pass Preserve.
Once there, they each received a special hat to identify them as Santa’s helpers and then played with some of the toys the Estero Island Historic Society keeps on hand.
Gathering around A.J. Bassett, they listened as she described what life was like at Christmas time for her as a little girl on Estero Island. She then let each child choose shells that they could give to others as gifts.
