    On SA Feb 9, St. Raphael’s Episcopal Church hosts “Sinatra – His Life Story” in their newly remodeled Comfort Hall.     Join the Estero Island Historic Society for a free, public presentation on MO, Feb 11 at 7pm at the Beach Library by Craig Pittman, author of ‘Oh, Florida! To some people, it’s a paradise. To others, it’s a punchline.” Pittman will share some of the wilder stories from Florida’s culture and history, plus how the state has affected life around the country. Doors open at 6:30pm.

On MO Feb 11 at 6pm at Beach Baptist Church, the Estero Island Taxpayers Association will host a forum with Ed & Kim Ryan moderating. Refreshments at 6pm by Mango Street Inn. Forum begins at 6:30pm. On WE Feb 13 at 6pm at the Propeller Room at Fish Tale Marina, the FMB Chamber of Commerce will host their “Commotion by the Ocean” candidate forum. The public is asked to submit their questions for the candidates to intern@fmbchamber.com by MO Feb 11. Questions will be picked at random during the forum.     The Friends of Matanzas Pass Preserve invite the public to attend their Annual Meeting on TU Feb 12 at 5pm at Tuckaway Café, 2301 Estero Blvd, FMB. A presentation on the Friends’ efforts to preserve the Monarch butterfly will be part of the evening. Following a short business meeting, a reception will be held. All are invited to attend.

    The Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation continues its annual tradition of awarding both academic scholarships and charitable giving to both island students and organizations in need. The 2019 scholarship application and charitable funding process has already begun. Scholarship applications are due March 1, 2019. Anyone living on the beach or whose family works on Fort Myers Beach may apply. College, trade schools or certificate programs all qualify.     Chapel by the Sea will host the Lee Health Bloodmobile from 9am-noon on SU Feb 17 at 100 Chapel St., FMB. Donors must be at least 17 years old and be in good general health – no colds, flu, sore throat, etc, and present a photo ID.


    The FMB Woman’s Club will host a five-week class on how to play bridge beginning on TU Feb 19 from 2-5pm and continuing the next four Tuesdays.     Furniture painting artist Tracey Bellion will lead two workshops showcasing her coastal whimsical style. Learn high-end furniture finishes in a fun, hands-on setting. Hosted by Salty Dog Gallery & Gifts and held at the Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club, Workshop 1 on TU Feb 26 from 6-9pm will have attendees painting a small furniture item they bring alongside Bellion. During Workshop 2 on WE Feb 27, 1-4pm, Bellion will do a live demonstration of advanced painting techniques. Cost is $65 each or $99 for both workshops. Seating is limited.
