Not A Clue

68

In my 65 years of life, two of the many hats I’ve worn, were working for a paving company, paving roads and parking lots, and an engineer.

I can tell you with all certainty, that whoever is doing the job here on Estero Blvd, either doesn’t have a clue about what they are doing, or has never done a job like this before.

Many discrepancies are obvious. All roads need to be crowned, or arched, with the highest point in the center, to facilitate water run off. Drains are then placed on the shoulder of the roads to take the run off away.

Using pavers in the center of a roadway where traffic will constantly run over them, is absurd because of both cost and maintenance, but I’m sure it looked pretty in the artist’s rendering, which I’m sure appealed to some bureaucrat, approving the job.

I was involved in a job on an island up north that very similarly involved replacement of water, sewer and gas lines, along with repaving. The job was accomplished at a rate of a mile every thirty days. The road here at the end of my street has been torn up for over a year!

I know people here like to say, “We don’t care how you did it up north”, but this is very obviously ridiculous, to anyone with any sense.

This is what happens when you incorporate, knowing your infrastructure is shot.

And, everyone should know that you never make any situation better, by creating more politicians.
