    ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

    Mark your calendar for the 2019 St. Patrick’s Day Parade on SA, March 16. Parade begins at 10am at Santini Plaza and ends at Ascension Church. Participants must register with Parade Chairman Ray Murphy by calling 591-8803 or emailing raymurphy870@gmail.com

    Join the FMB Woman’s Club for a St. Patrick’s Day event on SA Mar 16 immediately following the parade until 3pm. Free admission. Corned Beef & Cabbage and beverages available to purchase.     SPAGHETTI DINNER

    Chapel by the Sea Presbyterian Church hosts its monthly Spaghetti Dinners SA Mar 16 from 5-7pm On the menu will be Spaghetti & meatballs, Spicy Sausage and Peppers & Onions, Salad, Garlic Bread, Dessert and beverages. Tickets $10 adult/kids 10 and under free. 2500 Estero Blvd, FMB.

    GARDEN CLUB

    The Estero Island Garden Club will hold their next meeting on Monday, March 18 at 9am at the FMB Woman’s Club, 175 Sterling, FMB. The Guest Speaker will be popular horticulturist, David Southall. Those interested in gardening are invited to attend to learn

    PAUL TODD CONCERT

    Join the Beach United Methodist Church on MO Mar 18 at 7pm for a “Night on Broadway” presented by Paul Todd, Paul Todd, Jr, and Gabriela Frei. The concert will feature songs from all your favorite Broadway shows. Free will offering.

    PET RESCUE KITS

    The public is invited to FMB Fire Station 32, 17891 San Carlos Blvd, FMB on TU March 19 at 10 am for the presentation of 8 pet oxygen mask kits to the FMB Fire Department by Invisible Fence of Southwest Florida. Family pets are often an unfortunate casualty in home fires, but many can be saved with the proper equipment.

     SAN CARLOS PLAN

    The Lee County Department of Community Development will discuss proposed changes to the San Carlos Island community plan at an Open House on TU Mar 20 from 4-6pm at the Moose Lodge, 19090 San Carlos Blvd, FMB.

    MOON WALK

    The Friends of Matanzas Pass Preserve will conduct its monthly “By the Light of the Moon” program on WE Mar 20 beginning at 6:15pm. Awaken and sharpen your sense of smell, touch, hearing and night vision as you join two volunteers with candlelit lanterns as they guide you through the Preserve by the light of the Full Worm Moon.     ARTFUL INTERSECTION

    Join the Friends of the Mound House on FR Mar 22 from 7-10pm at the FMB Woman’s Club for the 2nd Annual Artful Intersection event featuring a live art auction with treasures for both beach and northern homes. The art auction celebrates many talented Island residents. Tickets $75 for a strolling supper and beverages.     MEMORY MAKERS CONCERT

    Join Chapel by the Sea on FR Mar 22 at 7pm for the latest in their concert series, “The Memory Makers Big Band.” The Memory Makers play the music of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey & Duke Ellington with a few 60’s – 90’s hits sprinkled in.     DINNER DANCE

    The Knights of Columbus of Ascension Parish will host an Irish Rovers Dinner Dance on SA, Mar 23 in the Parish Hall, 6025 Estero Blvd., FMB. Doors open at 5:30pm. The evening will include a catered dinner followed by the music of Side-by-Side for your listening and dancing pleasure. Proceeds benefit Ascension K of C local charities.     MAHJONG TOURNEY

    A Mahjong tournament will be held at Ascension Church Parish Hall on WE Mar 27 from 9am-3pm. All are invited to participate. More than 30 morning and afternoon prizes with a top prize of $100.     CRUISERS DAY    

    Mark your calendar now for the 12th Annual Cruisers Appreciation Day on SA, Apr 6 from 12-3pm in the Matanzas on the Bay courtyard. Free admission for all with BBQ, liver entertainment, drinks, door prizes and friendly Island hospitality – all to celebrate the cruiser who frequent the Fort Myers Beach mooring field.     KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP

    Beach Elementary School is looking for Kindergarten students on Estero Island or San Carlos Island who will be 5 years of age by September 1, 2019. They will hold their Annual Kindergarten Round-Up for the 2019-20 School Year at Fort Myers Beach Elementary School on Tuesday, April 9 from 9:30 am – 11 am. If your Kindergarten-aged child will be attending Fort Myers Beach Elementary for the 2019-20 School Year, please call the school office at 239-463-6356 to let them know you would like to join them for Roundup.

    LUAU ON THE BEACH

    Sign up now for the Friends of Lovers Key Luau on the Beach on April 11 from 5:30-8:30pm.     Plan to visit Matanzas Pass Preserve on Wednesday mornings for the free guided walk, “Exploring Ethnobotany” at 9:30am with a Florida Master Naturalist. Learn about the historical importance of Florida native plants as food, shelter, medicine and clothing to humans past & present. Discover how indigenous plants were used by the Calusa and early settlers.

    KIWANIS SCHOLARSHIPS

    Fort Myers Beach Kiwanis has announced that scholarship applications for the 2019-2020 academic year are now available at fortmyersbeachkiwanis.org. All applicants must live in the 33931 zip code. Applications must be received by March 25, 2019.They will be awarded at Senior Award Night. This year Kiwanis will award an additional scholarship in memory of Dr. Leroy Hommerding who served as Kiwanis secretary and also the chair of the scholarship committee for many years.
