Sea Tow and TowBoatUS of Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Fort Myers Beach, Pine Island & Sanibel are teaming up to collect donations for US Coast Guard personnel at Station Fort Myers Beach affected by the government shut down. Donations can be dropped off locally at the Fish-Tale Marina ship store or business office from 8am to 5pm at 7225 Estero Blvd, Fort Myers Beach, located behind Santini Plaza. Collections will continue throughout the government shutdown. Items requested are canned goods, household goods, diapers and gift cards for up to $20.00.

Auxiliary Unit 274 of the Melvin Cowart American Legion located at 899 Buttonwood Dr, Ft Myers Beach, recently presented the Fort Myers Beach Coast Guard Unit a check for $4,000 to help personnel going unpaid during the government shutdown. Judy Pitts, Auxiliary President, indicated their fund-raising efforts for active duty armed forces and veterans is ongoing at the Post. Funds came from bake sales, a fashion show & raffles that the Auxiliary operates. The funds were used to purchase $50 Gift Cards for the 80 active duty personnel attached to the Fort Myers Beach Coast Guard Station.
