The Friends of the Beach Library will host a Giant Book Sale in the Beach Library garage on Jan 19 & 20 from 9am-2pm. Huge selection, tiny prices. Books, DVD’s, CD’s, puzzles and more! Drop by to add to your beach reading list.
It’s time to register for the 2019 FMB Little League Spring Baseball/Softball Season! All players ages 4-16 who live or attend school within the league boundary (see website; Beach School and Lexington Middle School are in boundary) are eligible to play. Registration is open online through Feb 16 at fmbll.com or in person: FR Jan 18 3:30-4:30pm and SA Jan 19 10am-noon at the JP Food Store parking lot, 16871 San Carlos Blvd (Linda Loma & San Carlos Blvd).
The Fort Myers Beach Art Association Gallery is located at the corner of Donora and Shell Mound. (3030 Shell Mound Blvd.) Hours are MO – SA 10am – 3pm.The “Over the Moon” Winter Juried Show is now on exhibit through Feb 7. On SU Jan 20, beginning at 1pm, all are welcome to attend the free Gallery Talk by Michele Baron Buelow, Reception and Awards Event. Free admission. The Friends of Lovers Key State Park invites Islanders to join them on TU Jan 22 at 6pm for their Annual Meeting at the Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club, 175 Sterling Ave, FMB. Guest Speaker will be Dr. Jose Leal, the Science Director and Curator of the Bailey-Matthew National Shell Museum on Sanibel. Light refreshments will be served and FOLKS membership information available at this free community event.
A special Friends of the Arts Winter Concert benefitting Fort Myers Beach Elementary School will be held at Fish Tale Marina on TH Jan 24 from 7-9pm. Performing will be singer-songwriters Bridgette Tatum and Sheena Brook. A South Carolina native, Tatum co-wrote the 2009 most played country song in the U.S. “She’s Country” performed by Jason Aldean. Brook, a Southwest Florida native, has created her own sound blending genres and appeared on the Spring 2017 series, “The Voice.” Tickets $25 each; available at the Beach School or at fmbarts.org.
The Women’s Guild of Ascension Parish invites everyone who loves to dance to join them for a fun evening of dancing to the music of “Side-by-Side” on TH Jan 24 from 7-9pm in the parish hall at 6025 Estero Blvd., FMB. RESTORE THE ARCHES
On SA Jan 26 from 9am – 5pm, Restore Fort Myers Beach Arches, Inc. will host “Ride The Arches”, a Poker Run for cars or motorcycles with a carnival atmosphere in Indian Creek Plaza, 17284 San Carlos Blvd, FMB. The ride begins at Bridgette’s Place. Proceeds for this charity event will help pay for 3D imaging data of the original Fort Myers Beach Arches (1924-1979). BOAT SHOW, MARKET & SEAFOOD FEST
Head to Lovers Key State Park on FR Jan 25, SA Jan 26 and SU Jan 27 for the 4th annual Lovers Key Boat Show, market & Seafood Fest! Presented by the Friends of Lovers Key and the Bonita Springs Rotary Club, you’ll find boats of all kinds and 60 feet of fresh seafood, with fried, steamed, grilled varieties plus sandwiches and special recipes, such as paella. Entrance fee $5. Proceeds benefit the Rotary Cub charities and the Friends efforts to furnish the new Lovers Key Welcome & Discovery Center.
Everyone is invited to join the Friends of the Beach Library on MO Jan 28 at 10:30am at the library for their annual meeting. Guest speaker will be Beach School Principal Karen Manzi. Light refreshments provided.
The Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation Benefit “Dancing, We’re the Stars” will be held at 6pm on FR Feb 1 at DiamondHead Resort. A night of music and dancing will include dinner, a live auction and raffle prizes. Tickets $100/person. For more information and tickets, call 937-344-2974.

The Friends of the Arts Winter Concert Series will host a concert by “The British Invasion” on TH Feb 7 at 7pm at the Propeller Lounge at Fish-Tale Marina. This band captures the sound and the feel of the 60’s with music by the Beatles, Gerry & the Pacemakers, the Monkees & more. SINATRA LIFE STORY
On SA Feb 9, St. Raphael’s Episcopal Church hosts “Sinatra – His Life Story” in their newly remodeled Comfort Hall. This musical plan is a Tony Sands Production with Mr. Sands portraying Frank Sinatra. Doors open at 6:30pm. Show: 7-8:30pm. Photo ops with Tony as Ol’ Blue Eyes after the show. Meet the candidates in the March 5 Town Council election at a Candidate Forum sponsored by the Estero Island Taxpayers Association on MO Feb 11 at 6pm at Beach Baptist Church. The moderator will be Ed Ryan, editor of Radio Ink Magazine and Podcast Business Journal as well as host, with Kim Ryan, of Beach Talk Radio on Saturday mornings. Social time begins at 6pm with refreshments provided by the Mango Street Inn.
The Estero Island Garden Club invites the Island community to their 2nd annual Valentine’s Eve Gala on WE Feb 13 from 7-9pm at Historic St. Raphael’s Church at 5601 William’s Dr, FMB. The Beach School PTO will host the 2nd annual High Rollin’ on the Beach gaming fundraiser on SA Feb 23 from 6-10pm at the FMB Woman’s Club. YOGA FOR BEGINNERS
Yoga is a popular activity on Fort Myers Beach. One class that focuses on helping beginners participate is held at Chapel by the Sea every WE from 10:30-11:30am.
These sessions are geared toward beginners and positions are modified so everyone can experience and participate in each movement. Cost is $10 per class for Chapel members and $12 per class for non-members. Chapel by the Sea is located at 100 Chapel Street (2500 block of Estero Blvd.).
