The full contingent of members of the Beach Library Board of Directors met Tuesday evening, June 27th, the first time that’s occurred this year. Rick Sebastian, elected last November in an uncontested race, made his first appearance following last month’s meeting phone participation. He has been excused from previous meetings due to health concerns. The director, actor and former receptionist for the Town of Fort Myers Beach was warmly welcomed and expressed his pleasure at being able to participate as a member of the board.
An auditor’s report, originally planned for this June meeting, was postponed to the July meeting due to some scheduling confusion, according to Dr. Leroy Hommerding, Beach Library Director.
During the Treasurer’s report, Miffie Greer noted that the board could be pleased with the auditor’s report, which resulted in a unqualified opinion, meaning that the library’s financial records and procedures were in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The auditor will give a presentation at the July 25 meeting.
The board agreed to set the 2017-2018 Budget Public Hearings for Monday, September 11 at 5:15pm and Tuesday, September 26 at 5:30pm, pending approval by county officials.
The board will get its first look at next year’s library budget at their July meeting. Hommerding told the board that there would be no surprises in next year’s budget and agreed to schedule a budget workshop if the board wanted more time to discuss the budget after the July 25 meeting.
The next meeting of the Library Board will be Tuesday, July 25 at 6:30pm at the Beach Library, 2755 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach.
