Lakes Regional Park is a short drive away and a world apart. The 279-acre park located at 7330 Gladiolus Drive in South Fort Myers includes a 158-acre freshwater quarry lake, 2.5 miles of paved or natural paths plus picnic shelters, bicycle and boat rentals, miniature train rides, kids water features and of course, the Botanic Garden area, filled with beautiful flowers, some of which are shown here. It’s worth several hours of exploration and is a great family destination.
The Botanic Garden at Lakes Park includes several gardens: Fragrance Garden, Rose Garden, Water Garden, Succulent Garden and Community Garden. All are available for viewing whenever the park is open from 7am to dusk daily. Botanic Garden Tours, conducted by a Master Naturalist, are offered on the second Saturday of the month November-April. Meet at the Community Garden sign at 9am.
Park entry is free, but parking is $1/hour or $5 for all day. Bicyclists and pedestrians are free. Bike and boat rentals are available. The splash pad areas are open from 11am-4pm during the winter. The park does not allow pets. For more information on Lakes Regional Park visit bit.ly/LakesPark1
