Our beach community would not be the great place it is without its amazing people. Every couple months, we recognize those who bring positive change to our community.

Lori Zamniak, Beach Elementary teacher and 2019 Golden Coconut Award recipient. Beach Kids Foundation for their efforts to support Island kids.

Fort Myers Beach Lions Club for another successful Shrimp Festival. Kudos to 2019 Shrimp Queen Braden Downing and Shrimp Eating Champion Joel Martinez.

Ascension Knights of Columbus on hosting their inaugural Special Olympics Walkathon in February.

Fort Myers Beach Fire Chief Matthew Love on being named the 2019 Lee County Fire Chief of the Year. And FMB Fire Department for celebrating 70 years of service to our community.

Organizer Ray Murphy and all the participants in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade that brings out neighborhoods and condo associations for an old fashioned community parade.

The Estero Island Garden Club, Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation, Friends of the Mound House and Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club for hosting fundraisers, whose proceeds find their way back into the community via charitable donations and scholarships.

Tim and Cyndee Hill of Fort Myers Offshore, Mike Shepherd of Offshore Powerboat Association (OPA) and Jacki Liszak of the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce for spearheading the return of powerboat racing to Fort Myers Beach. The OPA National Championships will be held in FMB October 12, 2019.

The organizations & churches that support concerts and dances during season, providing visitors and residents a variety of entertainment options.

Every Islander who has volunteered, donated or helped in any way to make our Island home a better place to live, work or play.
