    HEART AND FLOWERS STYLE SHOW

    The theme of the Annual Style Show-Luncheon of the Fort Myers Beach Women’s Club is “Hearts & Flowers.” Rebecca’s Fashion, located in the Mercato in Naples will present an array of jewelry, purses and fashionable clothing at the event on SA Jan 23 at the Women’s Club, 175 Sterling Ave., FMB. Doors open at 11:30am. Cards will follow the luncheon for those who would like to play their own card games or bridge. There will be a chinese auction and door prizes.     WINTER JURIED ART SHOW

    On MO, Jan 25, the Winter Juried Show opens at the Fort Myers Beach Art Association main gallery, sponsored by Fresh Catch Bistro. The show will include art by members of the Southwest Florida Art Council. Award winners will be announced at the reception scheduled for Feb 1 beginning with a gallery talk by Peter Zell at 1 pm, with refreshments at 2:15 and award ceremony at 3 pm. Fresh Catch Bistro, the event sponsor, will provide refreshments as well as assist with the awards. Admission to the show is free and visitors are welcome. This exhibit will be available for viewing and sale until Feb 18th. Winter hours are the gallery are MO-SA 10-3; SU 12-3. Entry is free. The gallery is located at Donora and Shell Mound.     MOON WALK

    The Friends of Matanzas Pass Preserve will conduct its monthly “By the Light of the Moon” program on SA Jan 23 beginning at 5:40pm. Awaken and sharpen your sense of smell, touch, hearing and night vision as you join two volunteers with candlelit lanterns as they guide you through the Preserve by the light of the moon.     LITTLE LEAGUE

    Beach Little League registration is underway! It’s time to oil up your mitt and dust off your cleats. Fort Myers Beach Little League is prepping for the 2016 baseball and softball season. Registrations are ongoing at FMBLL.com, or call league president Shannon Orlandini at 285-5015 or vice presidents Tim Cherry at 839-8950 or Charlie Whitehead at 233-1018. Beach Little League has played on the fields at Bay Oaks since 1955. It is an all-volunteer organization that annually provides healthy and wholesome activities for kids ages 4-18. The league is always looking for volunteers for coaching, umpiring and many other duties. Please consider offering your services. And kids – Get Signed Up!

    BOOK SALE

    The Friends of Lakes Regional Library will hold a Book Sale at the Library on Sat. Jan. 23, 2016 from 9:00am-4:00pm. A large selection of fiction and non-fiction books as well as CD’s, DVD’s and audiobooks will be on sale. Lakes Regional Library is located at 15290 Bass Road.

    FREE TREES

    The Florida Forest Service and Arbor Day Foundation are giving away 10,000 free trees to Florida single-family homeowners. Trees are available while supplies last and can be reserved at arborday.org/floridatrees.

    BIG BAND CONCERT

    The FSW Big Band will appear Monday, February 1st, at 7 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church. The concert will feature the stylings of the fabulous Big Band Era performed by the 20-piece group from FSW State College directed by Dr. Tom Smith.     SHRIMP QUEEN PAGEANT

    The Fort Myers Beach Lions Club invites area young ladies who are friendly and outgoing between the ages of 16-20 to participate in the Shrimp Queen Pageant during the Lions Club Shrimp Festival. Awards and prizes include a college scholarship for the Queen and the opportunity to ride atop a fabulous Corvette in the Shrimp Festival parade. This is not a beauty contest and there is no talent competition. The crowning of the Queen takes place at 1pm on SA, Mar 12 on Festival Grounds.     SCHOLARSHIPS

    The Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications. Scholarships are awarded based on community service, school, work, leadership and academic achievement. Applications are available at www.fmbeachfoundation.org or from a Foundation member. Deadline for application submission is Feb 15.

    FLEA MARKET

    The Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club is holding their annual Flea Market on SA, Jan 30, from 9am-1pm at their clubhouse at 175 Sterling Street to benefit local charities. The sale will include decorative and useful household items, sports equipment, clothing, furniture, books, etc. They welcome contributions of gently used items for the sale.     BOOK SIGNING

    Veronica Honey, author of “Carolyn, A Journey of Faith” will have a book signing at Annette’s Book Nook in Santini Plaza on Jan 26 and Feb 8 from 9:30am-1pm. The book is a story of the author’s daughter who died at the age of 16 from a brain tumor and her courageous journey.

    MOUND HOUSE

    Estero Island’s oldest standing structure at the Mound House has recently been restored to its 1921 grandeur and is now open as a cultural and environmental learning center. Mound House is a unique archaeological and historical site located directly on Estero Bay and offers a variety of programs for local residents, visitors and school groups. Experience this one of a kind museum that sits atop a 2,000 year old Calusa Indian Shell Mound. Open TU-SA 9am-4pm through Apr 30th. Admission $10/adults; $5/ages 6-12.     TRUNK SHOW

    A benefit for C.A.R.E a non-profit foundation providing cancer patients with education, research and financial support will be held at Palmettos in the Santini Marina Shopping Plaza on WE Jan 27 from 9:30am-6pm. Try on a pair of Lisette L pants during the Trunk Show Jan 27 and Lisette and Palmettos will make a donation to C.A.R.E.

    FASHION SHOW LUNCHEON

    The Ascension Catholic Women will sponsor their annual fashion show and luncheon TU Feb 16, at the Church of the Ascension Parish Hall, 6025 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach. Fashions by Leani’s of Santini Plaza. Doors open at 11:30. Seats are limited and sell out fast! Proceeds support the group’s area charitable efforts.     HANDBELL CONCERT

    Chapel by the Sea Concert Series will present Joybell – Kristine Stout on TH Feb 11 at 7pm at Chapel by the Sea. This evening of inspiration and joy features Kristine who plays three octaves of English handbells all by herself and also accompanies herself on a digital keyboard. She’s a symphony of one! Free will offering.

    CAR SHOW

    The largest Caribbean Cruise In Car Show of the season is set for MO Feb 1 from 5-7pm at Salty Sam’s Marina. Free and open to the public, you’ll see a variety of the area’s coolest hot rods, finest classic cars and custom trucks. More than 150 cars are expected at this show.
