Last Thursday night, Hammerhead Beach Gym hosted the first of something they hope will become a regular event. The ‘Healthy Happy Hour’ is the brainchild of owner Tiffany Kersten, who told us she thought this would be a great way to introduce the public to all the people on the island who can help them get healthier in both body and spirit.
“We are all professionals who work together all the time, so I thought – why not gather us all in one place?” she told us last week when we stopped by. “This is a way for the pubic to come meet yoga teachers, therapists, Pilates instructors and mental therapy professionals.”
The first Healthy Happy Hour featured healthy snacks like protein shakes, cucumber infused water, vegetables and dip and more. Samples of essential oils, supplements and vitamins were also available, and people were invited to meet and mingle with Massage Therapists Corri Francisco and Lydia Frantz; Personal Trainer Janna Clark, Pilates Instructor Kristi West; Nutritionist Anthony Amato, Wellness Therapist Dorothy Rodwell and Beth Ann Tuyls, a representative from Bennett Chiropractic.
“This is an open house for the gym, too,” Tiffany said. “We want islanders and visitors to learn about the opportunities to get healthy here – finally fulfill that New Year’s resolution!”
Next month, the Healthy Happy Hour will be held on Tuesday, September 27 and feature a guest speaker – a local resident who lost over 100 pounds and the trainer who helped him accomplish that goal.
