    Keep Lee County Beautiful and the Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation invites everyone to join them for the Great American Cleanup on SA Apr 13 from 8 – 11am. Meet at Fort Myers Beach Elementary School, 2751 Oak St, by 8am. They will provide water, snacks, bags and gloves. You supply your own sunscreen. This is the 21st anniversary of this county-wide event. Come on out and be a beach volunteer!


    The Estero Island Historic Society has announced its first Garden Party fundraiser and celebration to be held on SA Apr 13 from 10am – 1pm at the Historic Cottages, 161 Bay Road, FMB. Beautiful homemade quilts by EIHS Board Member Ann Alsop will be available for purchase, plus unique crocheted handcrafts. Enjoy lemonade & cookies as you browse.


    Chapel by the Sea Presbyterian Church hosts its monthly Spaghetti Dinners on the 2nd SA of the month on SA Apr 13 from 5-7pm On the menu will be Spaghetti & meatballs, Spicy Sausage and Peppers & Onions, Salad, Garlic Bread, Dessert and beverages. Tickets $10 adult/kids 10 and under free. Wine Tickets $5.


    Parrot Key Caribbean Grill has hosted two car shows a month since November. Their final Caribbean Cruise-In Car Show will be held MO, Apr 15 from 4-7pm at Parrot Key, 2500 Main Street on San Carlos Island. Stop by to see some cool hot rods, classic cars and custom trucks.     On WE Apr 17 beginning at 6pm, enjoy beautiful Bunche Beach, an excellent birding site with a Bird Patrol Guide. Bunche is an excellent spot for both migrant and resident waders and shorebirds working the mudflats at low tide. Also warblers, waterfowl and raptors.     Join Peggy Lince of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office to learn ways to reduce the likelihood of your home becoming a target for criminal activity. 1:30pm at the Beach Library on TH April 18.


    Stop by Parrot Key Caribbean Grill during April to support the Children’s Advocacy Center by purchasing a Blue Macaw cocktail. Half of the proceeds from Blue Macaw sales will be donated to the Children’s Advocacy Center to help them raise awareness to combat child abuse in our community. Help them help kids and enjoy a tropical blue cocktail on the waterfront!


    Head to Lovers Key State Park on FR Apr 19 at 10am for a mile-long guided hike along the Black Island Trail with a park ranger. Learn about the fascinating vegetation and wildlife that reside in this maritime hammock. Free with park entry, but reservations required by calling 239-463-4588.


    Bay Oaks Recreation Center will host a free Easter Egg Hunt on SA Apr 20. Children 8 years old and younger begin at 9am; Children 9-13 years old at 9:15am. The event features crafts, the Easter Bunny, inflatable slides, a coloring contest and bounce house in addition to the egg hunt. Anyone wishing to donate non-chocolate candy may drop their candy donations off at Bay Oaks Recreation Center.


    LeeTran will offer free rides on all fixed route buses on Try Transit Day, MO, Apr 22. The day is intended to increase ridership by raising awareness of the environmental benefits of using public transit. For schedule and fare information call 239-LEE-TRAN or visit


    Each Friday and Saturday, free Celebration concerts from 5-10pm fill Times Square offering an entertaining musical backdrop to a spectacular sunset. On FR, Apr 12 and FR Apr 19, High Tide will play. On SA,  Apr 13  Double Standard will perform; Apr 20 Wild Boyz will take the stage., Remedy will play. Show is pet and kid friendly.     The Kingfish Mayhem Fishing Tournament will be held at Fish-Tale marina May 16 – 18. This Pro Series invitation only tournament on Friday, May 17 already has a full slate of 40 boats registered. The Fort Myers Meat Mayhem Open Tournament will be held on Sa May 18.     The Fort Myers Beach Lions Club is now accepting applications for their “We Serve” scholarships. Applications can be downloaded at under Lions Services. Last year $1,000 scholarships were awarded to 10 recipients. Local students going on to college or vocational school are eligible to apply. This year two special awards will be granted: The Shirley Semmer Award and The Fred Schmiesing Award, each a little more than other awards. Applications must be submitted by May 15.


    The Beach Kids Foundation is now accepting applications for its Scholarship Program. Applications are available by emailing or by calling
