Garr V. Reynolds of Fort Myers Beach, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019 following a long illness.
Garr served on the Beach Civic Association that was instrumental in the Town’s incorporation, and then as a Town Council member, including a stint as Mayor, for the Town of Fort Myers Beach in its first decade as a town.
Garr was born August 14, 1931 in Kentucky. He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary and Secondary Education and a Master of Arts degree in Elementary and Secondary Supervision and Administration. He did additional graduate work at the University of Cincinnati and Miami University.
He served in the U. S. Air Force and retired from the Cincinnati Public School System where he served as a teacher and administrator. He was a member of the Masonic and Scottish Rite, a life member of the VFW Post #10097, a life member of the National Educational Association and served as a Leader for the Boy Scouts of America.
He also was a member of the San Carlos Bay U.S. Power Squadron, Fort Myers Beach Civic Association and Fort Myers Beach Incorporation Committee.
Married over 50 years to his wife Regina, they had two children. They first visited Fort Myers Beach in 1960 and become full time beach residents in the 1990’s.
