The Estero Island Garden Club have been hard at work beautifying the garden surrounding the welcome sign at the south end of the island. Members weeded, pruned, planted and mulched that area on October 19th during an early morning work day. Island visitors and residents walking and driving by gave the volunteers a thumbs-up to show their appreciation. Shown here from left are Ann Fossum, Margaret Schmidt, Elaine Whisler, Joanie Birmingham and Diane Butcher.
Garden Club members Bernadette Hamera and Bonnie McClure recently received certificates of appreciation for their work this summer with the Wekiva Youth Camp. On November 7, the Garden Club will meet at 10am at the Berne Davis Botanical Garden, 2166 Virginia Avenue, Fort Myers – Adjacent to Edison-Ford Winter Estate for a tour of the Edison – Ford Garden Nursery. Anyone interested in joining the Garden Club may attend. Following the tour, we will attend a workshop on Shell Ball Ornaments that we will use to decorate the Grand FMB Christmas Tree in the Beach Library. Bring a glue gun if you have one. The club will decorate the library tree on Dec 5 at 9:30am. Come early to help organize. For more information on Garden Club activities, call Carol, 312-320-7247.
