The most recent meeting of the Friends of Bay Oaks was held on Tuesday, August 15. This group of residents is committed to supporting and enhancing the services and programs offered by Town of Fort Myers Beach Bay Oaks Recreation Center.
The Friends has the option of running the concession at Fright Night as a fundraiser. Before making the commitment, they need to know if they have the volunteers necessary. Fright Night will be held Friday, October 20 from 6-10pm. They would need help setting up, shopping, grilling, selling and clean up. If you can help, let Denise know at 239-848-8969.
Applications have been submitted for two grants worth a total of $42,000 for marketing initiatives and technology. They will be awarded in October. The Friends of Bay Oaks is now working on grants for 2018 and the first step is identifying needs. Anyone who would like to be involved in the grant process is asked to call Denise at the number above.
The tentative 2017-2018 budget is now available on the Town’s website fmbgov.com. Look under Departments, then Finance to find it. The Friends of Bay Oaks encourages residents to attend the August 21 Council meeting and both Public Budget Hearings on September 7 and 21 to voice support for Bay Oaks and the pool and encourage full funding of these community resources.
The next meeting of the Friends of Bay Oaks will be Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from 5:30-6:30pm at Bay Oaks.
