    Chapel by the Sea will host their monthly Italian Dinner on SA Feb. 11 from 5-7pm. Spaghetti, meatballs, spicy sausage w/peppers & onions, salad, garlic bread, dessert & drinks. Donation $10 adult; $5 kids 10 & under and Pubic Safety Personnel in uniform or w/ ID (police, fire, EMS).


    The Knights of Columbus will host their annual Valentine’s Dinner & Dance on SA Feb 11 at the Church of the Ascension Parish Hall, with live music by Sanchez Entertainment for your listening and dancing pleasure.     The St. Peter Lutheran Church Concert Series will present “Big Band Memories” MO, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. The concert will feature top hits of the fabulous Big Band Era including swing tunes and ballads performed by the popular 15-piece Southwest Florida Big Band.     Learn about life in SWFL from the 1880’s to the 1960’s from Robert Ballard, a 5th generation Florida Cracker who traces his family’s early settlement on Cayo Costa and Pine Island Sound. This presentation by the Estero Island Historic Society will be offered on MO, Feb 13 at 7pm in the Beach Library 3rd floor Community Room. Using old land records, family letters and photos, Ballard describes 80 years of life for a pioneering family in SWFL in this fascinating presentation.     The Beach Area Civic Association will hold a meeting on TU Feb 14 at 6:30pm in the Bonita Bills meeting room. Due to conflicting meetings, BACA will hold two meetings in February; their first was held on TH Feb 9 and another one on TU Feb 14. New members welcome. A review of issues BACA are tracking will be provided.


    The Feb. 1 Fort Myers Beach Art Association “Paint Around” Social raised over $1500 for their Student Scholarship Fund, benefiting graduating high school seniors who will have a show at the FMBAA Art Gallery March 25-29. The FMBAA Spring Juried Show will be on exhibit in the gallery Feb 13-March 23 with a Gallery Talk (1pm) and a Reception (2:15pm) on Feb. 19th. The Studio 2 gallery will feature an exhibit of the Painting Groups from Feb. 11-23.The FMBAA offers short workshops for those interested in learning to paint.     The Sheriff’s Office will present “Personal Safety” and “Active Shooter for the Community” on Mon., Feb. 13th at 9:30am in the church. All are welcome to attend.

    On TH, Feb 16 at 7pm at Chapel by the Sea, enjoy a concert performance featuring Tommy O, aka “Elvirotti,” which acknowledges his vast range of performances from Elvis to Pavarotti. Tommy O offers impeccable showmanship, leaving audiences with the gift of indelible joyous memories. Free will offering.


    Join the Friends of the Matanzas Pass Preserve for their annual meeting with Special Guest Speaker Cathy Olson, Lee County Parks & Rec Acting Director and Manager for Conservation 20/20 on Tues., Feb 14th at 5pm at the Beach Library. Olson will speak on the Conservation 20/20 program-How it works and how we benefit. Refreshments served. All are welcome. Free.


    The Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation will hold its February membership meeting on Feb. 15th at 5:30pm at the Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club. Guest speakers will be from the Mound House, Estero Island’s oldest standing structure, recently restored to its 1921 grandeur. Visit for more information.     The Friends of the Mound House has announced another upcoming event that will directly support the ongoing preservation and educational programming of the Mound House. On Friday, February 17, 2017 they will once again host “If These Walls Could Talk” at St. Raphael’s Episcopal Church. This is a humorous ‘spoof’ written by Laurie Nienhaus about some of the incidents in the Mound House’s diverse and eclectic history. This was a sold-out success in November and tickets for the Feb 17 performance are limited to 125 people. Tickets are $25 each and include wine and cheese before the curtain goes up at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. For tickets, call Ceel Spuhler at 239-765-6472.


    Want to improve walking and biking in the Ft. Myers Beach? This is your chance! The Ft. Myers Beach Community Input Map is the first step in a larger effort to improve walking and biking in the Town. Ft. Myers Beach, in partnership with the Lee County MPO and Lee County, is undertaking the development of a Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan.     The Estero Island Taxpayer’s Association will host a Meet the Candidate event on MO Feb 20 from 6:30-8:30pm at the Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club, 175 Sterling Ave. All are welcome to attend.

    The Multiple Sclerosis Center of SWFL will host an event at the Laugh-IN Comedy Café, 8595 College Parkway, Fort Myers on SU, Feb 12.     The Lee County Library System, Lee County Parks & Recreation and the Lakes Park Enrichment Foundation have partnered for a StoryWalk® for people of all ages set to open Saturday, Feb. 11. Follow along the picture book “Plants Can’t Sit Still” as you explore the new Children’s Garden at Lakes Park. Free ice cream will be provided for the first 30 children who complete the walk. Lakes Regional Park is located in south Lee County at 7330 Gladiolus Drive. The StoryWalk® is open to the public during regular park hours. The Children’s Garden is located near Parking Lot 3.     Travel back through time with Visions of the Past on SA Feb 25 from 9am-1pm. Your guide will lead you along the trail to visit and hear from the Calusa Indians, Spaniards, Explorers, Pirates, Homesteaders, Koreshans and Pioneers of Estero Island/Fort Myers Beach. Experience facts, folklore and customs of these bygone eras. Free guided walks are held every 20 min starting at 9am. Reservations strongly encouraged.
