The Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club recently elected its 2019-2020 board. The board will continue its focus on support for Fort Myers Beach non-profit organizations and serving the community for the benefit of everyone.
“This upcoming year brings much activity to the Club,” said Beverley Milligan, President. “We are launching a capital campaign to renovate and restore our historic clubhouse. Our goal is to create a venue for all area non-profits to utilize, as well as, create a beautiful setting for other area events.”
In 2018, the Woman’s Club held its first annual Christmas Tree Festival where local non-profits all worked together to raise money for their specific group. The club also started a weekly yoga class for area residents as well as bridge classes. The St. Patrick’s Day Party fed residents after the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The Woman’s Club website was created and has a community calendar where non-profit groups can add their community event.
“We continue to look for new ideas and activities for our island residents and our members,” Milligan said. “We are excited for the upcoming year and welcome anyone – man or woman – to join.”
For over 50 years, the Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club has provided a nurturing environment for women and encouraged them to develop and enrich social friendships, gain knowledge and provide services within the community in meaningful activities.
