The 11th annual Fort Myers Beach Film Festival concluded five star-studded days of film screenings, workshops and fun on Sunday afternoon, August 30th at the awards ceremony held at Fish Tale Marina. Following the ceremony, one of the winners of the Best Feature, “The Earth is Flat” and People’s Choice winner “The Pickle Recipe” were shown at the Beach Theater, where the Film Festival was held April 26-30 this year.
The 2017 Fort Myers Beach Film Festival winners are:
Best Feature: The Earth is Flat and South Dakota (TIE)
Best Documentary: Between Worlds
Best Local Film: My Friend Raymond
Best Film Short: Perception and Things We Don’t Know (TIE)
Best Student Film: Oscuro
People’s Choice: The Pickle Recipe
Rising Star and Best Actor: Tessa Thompson (South Dakota)
Star Achievement: Alyn Darnay
The traditional Friday “Film on the Beach” was transformed this year into a “Film on the Bay” and held on the grounds of the Mound House overlooking Estero Bay at sunset Friday evening, April 28th, drawing families and both the young and young at heart to enjoy a screening of Disney’s, “Moana.”
