Join the Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras fun at the Cottage Bar on TU , Mar 5 from 2-9pm. The 12th Annual Fat Tuesday John Donovan Benefit will feature live Music, raffles, Cajun food and more. Proceeds benefit the Gulf Coast Humane Society.
FREE TARPON CLINIC
The Fort Myers Beach Tarpon Hunters Club will hold its annual Free Tarpon fishing and tackle clinic on WE Mar 6 at 7pm at Bonita Bill’s, 702 Fisherman’s Wharf, FMB. Guest speaker will be JoEllen Wilson, Juvenile Tarpon Habitat Program manager with the Bonefish & Tarpon Trust. Additional speakers will discuss finding and catching the Silver Kings using a variety of tackle. Instructional displays on rigging and baits will also be available. The FMB Tarpon Hunters Club is the oldest Tarpon fishing club in the world, established in 1962, its primary goal is to promote the grand sport of Tarpon fishing with sportsmanship and safe boating practices. Head to the Beach Library 3rd Floor commons for a Meet & Greet on TH Mar 7 3:30-4:30pm. Artist Craig Petersen, whose work will be on display throughout March, will be present. Vote for your favorite artwork!
SONGWRITERS AT SUNSET
Mark TH Mar 7 on your calendar for the next monthly Songwriters at Sunset Beach BBQ and Free Acoustic Concert at the beachfront gazebo at Lovers Key State Park. Seating is available for the first 80 people, so bring chairs or a blanket to sit on the sand. A Beach BBQ to benefit the park’s new Welcome & Discovery Center begins at 3:30pm. The concert begins at 4:30pm. The concert is free with paid park entry.
The FMB Kiwanis Club meets three times each month at Bonita Bill’s Waterfront Cafe. The March meetings will be on FR Mar 8 at 7:30 a.m. – Breakfast meeting. Agenda will include a report from the Board Meeting and final plans for the Shrimp Festival Parade; FR Mar 15 at 11:30 a.m. for a lunch Meeting with local guest speaker; and TH Mar 21 at 5:30pm for a dinner meeting and social. ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

The Estero Island Garden Club will hold their next meeting on Monday, March 18 at 9am at the FMB Woman’s Club, 175 Sterling, FMB. The Guest Speaker will be popular horticulturist, David Southall. Those interested in gardening are invited to attend to learn more about the club.
SAN CARLOS PLAN
The Lee County Department of Community Development will discuss proposed changes to the San Carlos Island community plan at an Open House on TU Mar 20 from 4-6pm at the Moose Lodge, 19090 San Carlos Blvd, FMB.
Join the Friends of the Mound House on FR Mar 22 from 7-10pm at the FMB Woman’s Club for the 2nd Annual Artful Intersection event featuring a live art auction with treasures for both beach and northern homes. The art auction celebrates many talented Island residents. Tickets $75 for a strolling supper and beverages. The Fort Myers Beach Art Association Gallery is currently showing original artwork by local artists in their Spring Juried Show, “Under the Sun” through March 21 in the Main Gallery. Fort Myers Beach Kiwanis has announced that scholarship applications for the 2019-2020 academic year are now available at fortmyersbeachkiwanis.org. All applicants must live in the 33931 zip code. Applications must be received by March 25, 2019.They will be awarded at Senior Award Night. This year Kiwanis will award an additional scholarship in memory of Dr. Leroy Hommerding who served as Kiwanis secretary and also the chair of the scholarship committee for many years. This will be a $5000 scholarship awarded to that high school applicant with the highest GPA at the end of the first semester of senior year. Email email@example.com with any questions.

SAVE BOTTLE CAPS
The Fort Myers Beach Lions Club is collecting bottle caps to help Beach School acquire a Buddy Bench, which is made from recycled bottle caps. A Buddy Bench is designed to help children who are being bullied or feel isolated at school or need a friend to play with. An education program accompanies the bench. Buddy Bench is a successful national program. Caps can be dropped off at the FMB Chamber Office, 2450 Estero Blvd, FMB. Acceptable caps include CLEAN caps from drink bottles, medicine, milk jugs, deodorant, flip-top bottles (ketchup, mustard), spray paint plus lids from cottage cheese containers, Peanut butter jars, yogurt, butter, detergent bottles. DO NOT bring them the bottles, just the caps/lids. Also no plastic bags, trigger sprayers, lotion pumps or fast food drink lids or caps or lids with recycle #1 ,3, 6 or 7.
Mark your calendar now for the 12th Annual Cruisers Appreciation Day on SA, Apr 6 from 12-3pm in the Matanzas on the Bay courtyard. Free admission for all with BBQ, liver entertainment, drinks, door prizes and friendly Island hospitality – all to celebrate the cruiser who frequent the Fort Myers Beach mooring field. The Marine Resources Task Force (MRTF) is an advisory board to the Fort Myers Beach Town Council regarding awareness, education and preservation of the community’s natural resources. MRTF is now seeking nominations for the annual Mulholland award given to an individual, business or organization which promotes awareness, education and preservation of our community’s natural resources. The Mulholland award is for entities that demonstrate a long-term commitment to environmental stewardship. Winners’ names are engraved on the Mangrove Tree plaque in Town Council chambers. Stewardship is the voluntary conservation of natural habitat and wildlife by concerned citizens. Applications can be obtained at Town Hall or at fmbgov.com Applications must be received by March 31.
LUAU ON THE BEACH
Sign up now for the Friends of Lovers Key Luau on the Beach on April 11 from 5:30-8:30pm. The luau will include a pig roast, chicken, appetizers and dessert, plus dancing to steel drum music and games. Cost is $60/person for non-FOLKS members and $55/person for FOLKS members.
