CATCH A WAVE
Tonight, Feb 24th, is your chance to catch a wave with the Beach Boys-related California Surf, Inc. concert at the Fish Tale Marina Propeller Lounge behind Santini Marina Plaza, at 7225 Estero Blvd, FMB. Tickets are $25. The concert is from 7-9pm. Part of the Winter Concert Series by the Fort Myers Beach Friends of the Arts, whose mission is to promote and support theater, music, culinary and visual arts on FMB. VISIONS OF THE PAST
Travel back through time with Visions of the Past on SA Feb 25 from 9am-1pm. Your guide will lead you along the trail to visit and hear from the Calusa Indians, Spaniards, Explorers, Pirates, Homesteaders, Koreshans and Pioneers of Estero Island/Fort Myers Beach. Experience facts, folklore and customs of these bygone eras. Free guided walks are held every 20 min starting at 9am. Reservations strongly encouraged. Bayside Estates Pastel Art Club will host a free art show featuring over 50 pieces of artwork created by ten artists in the community. Their leader, Julie Valladares, originally from New Zealand, is a renowned artist who is now retired and living in Bayside Estates. The show will be held in the Bayside Estates Clubhouse on SU, Feb 26 from 4-6pm. All are welcome. Entry is free with free wine and cheese. The St. Peter’s Lutheran Concert Series presents a special evening of music with the Ave Maria University Choir on MO, Feb 27 at 7pm. The performance by the acclaimed 30-voice choral group will feature Broadway selections including a medley from The Phantom of the Opera, as well as inspirational and patriotic favorites. The 10th Annual Fat Tuesday John Donovan Benefit will be held on TU Feb 28 at The Cottage, 1270 Estero Island. Benefitting the Gulf coast Humane Society, there will be live music from 2pm-1am plus raffle prizes, Cajun food and drinks specials.

The Beach United Methodist Church presents Paul Todd in concert on TU Feb 28 at 7pm.
The Fort Myers Beach Tarpon Hunters Club (the World’s Oldest Tarpon Hunting Club) invites all to their annual Free Tarpon Fishing Clinic on WE Mar 1 at 7pm at Bonita Bill’s Restaurant. Learn how to find and catch the mighty “Silver Kings,” how to rig and choose the right bait and different types of tackle. Featured speaker Captain Matt Mitchell, a local Tarpon fishing guide will share his secrets about catching tarpon. The FMBTHC holds monthly meetings with membership starting at $40. The Fort Myers Beach Yacht Club held its annual Commodore’s Ball, February 9th, at Gulf Harbor Yacht & Tennis Club, installing its 2017 Bridge. In February, the club hosted 8 land & sea events and will host 7 more in March, including participation in the Shrimp Parade and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. On February 20th, the Estero Island Garden Club enjoyed a Chinese Auction fundraiser with members winning some beautiful tropical plants to take home. The next meeting will be at the Ft Myers Beach library at 9:30 am on March 6th. The speaker will be Adrienne Diaz from Miss Potters Place in Ft Myers and she will be offering us tips on how to grow edibles and many other low maintenance plants in our home gardens.
