Estero Island Blues

The traffic becomes
Amazingly lighter
As the days grow longer
And the humid air rises
In tune with the drum roll
In honor of a dead Island girl
Victim goddess of Fire
No rain in a month of forever
I hand water the red hibiscus
The orange Bouganvilleas
The white confederate jasmine smelling
Up my yard
While listening to Billie
Sing the Blues.
