Edelweiss Burger

Bizz Buzz

“Edelweiss” is a show tune created for the 1959 musical The Sound of Music, made famous in the 1965 movie adaptation. It is named after the edelweiss, a white flower found high in the Alps of Austria, which is also the home country of the new owners of Edelweiss Burger located at 1365 Estero Blvd on Fort Myers Beach behind Yo Taco.

Herbert and Christine Salzmann came to Fort Myers Beach to try something new after following their son who had come to the States for school. Herbert has always worked in the restaurant business so owning and running Edelweiss Burger is old hat. He also loves to play the Edelweiss tune on his trumpet much to the joy of their patrons.

At Edelweiss you can create your own burger by choosing from a list of toppings, cheeses, buns, sauce and sides. A must is the Ultimate Edelweiss Burger and Herbie’s Bratwurst with sauerkraut! They also serve draft and bottled beer, wine/Sangria, cocktails and fountain drinks.

Edelweiss Burger is open Wednesday thru Sunday 11:30AM – 9PM, Tuesday 5PM–9PM and closed on Monday. View their menu at www.EdelweissBurger.com, phone 239-233-8305. And, if you can pronounce “Edelweiss” correctly to Herbert he’ll give you a draft beer on the house!!!

Nauti Parrot Dock Bar

The Nauti Parrot Dock Bar opened its doors on May 1st welcoming boaters, locals and travelers, bringing a Key West feel to Fort Myers Beach with live entertainment, affordable pricing and a seafood menu with Caribbean flair in a location that they hope to make the “First and Last Stop on the Beach.”

For owner Ken Geib and his family, shown here from left-Tyler, Mary, Ken and Andrew Geib, the new Nauti Parrot Dock Bar is their second restaurant in Southwest Florida. Two years ago they opened the Nauti Parrot Tiki Hut in Marinatown of North Fort Myers, which quickly became an area hot spot.

The Geib family has brought Chef Scott Deibert from their home state of Pennsylvania, where he was a Philadelphia restauranteur and most recently Chef to the Philadelphia Phillies. Chef Scott plans to stay true to the Key West seafood theme but promises to “bring a global menu driven by local ingredients.” In addition to seafood, the menu includes steak, Angus burgers, gourmet flatbreads and pizza.

Additional free parking is available in the marked lot across the street, with the “Nauti Parrot Shuttle,” a six-seat golf cart ready to safely transport you to the restaurant.

The Nauti Parrot Dock Bar is open daily from 11am until late. Live daily entertainment 1-10pm. Happy hour is 3-5pm Monday-Friday and SUPER Happy Hour 5-6pm Monday-Thursday. Located at 19001 San Carlos Blvd just before the bridge to Fort Myers Beach. Phone 239-314-5667 or NautiParrotDockBar.com
