On behalf of the Fort Myers Beach Lion’s Club, we wish to extend our most sincere thanks to the Fort Myers Beach Community for the outpouring of love and support you showed at our First Ever Dessert Event. The Dessert Event was graciously hosted on Thursday, November 21st at Beach Baptist Church, which was transformed into an intimate café with a harvest theme.
Many island residents, business owners, fellow Lion’s from other clubs and nearby friends shared in an evening of dessert tasting as we raised money for the local community. The Event highlights included a live Dessert Auction and Silent Auction.
As the Club who hosts the Annual Shrimp Festival on Fort Myers Beach, we planned this evening in hopes of reaching out and connecting on a more intimate level while raising money for a great cause. We are grateful to all who were in attendance including Mayor Anita Cereceda, former Mayor Tracey Gore, Councilmember Joanne Shamp, Councilmember Rexann Hosafros, Sanibel Councilman Jason Maughan, FMB Fire Commissioner Ron Fleming and Marine Resources Task Force Chairman Bill Veach just to name a few.
There were so many who freely gave their time, talents and donations in a collaborative effort to make the event a success. Although we do not have the final numbers yet, we are estimating the event raised over $10k. It was truly a labor of love and a we are honored to have been a part of such a special evening.
Again, we are humbled and grateful by the outpouring of kindness and generosity. We will serve the community well with the funds raised.
