Dennis Frank Fabian, 78, a resident of Fort Myers Beach, Florida, passed away Wednesday April 12, 2017 in Fort Myers, FL. He was born March 14,1939 in New York to Joseph and Anne Fabian, now deceased.
Dennis served in the U.S. Army, was a draftsman and retired as a conductor from the Long Island Railroad 22 years ago. He read and did the NY Times crossword puzzle daily. Dennis loved the sun and a good tan. He enjoyed walking the sandbar at the beach by day, and sitting on the bench in ‘the square’ watching people and listening to the music by night. He was known as ‘the bench guy’, ‘the hat” or sometimes ‘Panama Jack’.
Dennis is survived by two loving children. Douglas Fabian of Kitzingen, Germany and Gisela Fabian-Homberg of Senden, Germany. His third child, Marcus is deceased as well as his fourth child, Tina, who died at 8 weeks old. He is also survived by five grandchildren in Germany.
Dennis was loved and will be missed by many friends in Fort Myers Beach. He was an icon sitting on the bench in ‘the square.’
