Long-time Islander and current resident of Englewood Beach – Darrell Franz Busch – passed away on August 16, 2016.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 16, 1965, Darrell moved to Fort Myers Beach in the late 1990’s, where he quickly became a popular bartender at first The Mucky Duck (which later became the Holmes House) and then at The Reef. While living on the island, Darrell became known for his love of Eagles football, Trivial Pursuit, fine food and music and his sense of humor.
Darrell had a big heart and truly lived life to the fullest. When both the Reef and the Holmes House were destroyed by Hurricane Charley in 2004, Darrell moved to Englewood to live with his father, Dietrich Busch.
Darrell is survived by his father Dietrich; his mother, Darlene, and his brother, Damon Busch. For those who would like to come and share their memories of Darrell, a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 18, from 2-6pm at Calico Jack’s in Englewood. Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP by calling Keri Weeg at 239-994-8897.
