Dancin’ In The Streets

The annual Doo Wop Festival began under cloudy skies and the threat of rain Saturday morning, but blossomed into sunshine and good times as the dance contest filled Santini Marina Plaza with dancers and spectators. Winners were chosen by “applause meter.”

1st Place: Mitch and Pat Montgomery, Erie PA

2nd Place:  Jeremy Carberry and Nancy Cornelius

    (Grandmother and Grandson), Pittsburg PA

3rd Place: Pat and Carmine Ciotola, Ohio

Santini Event Coordinator Bonnie Roberts was pleased to see so many Islanders having a great time at the event.

“Santini Marina was packed with fans of the 50’s era and they were really dancin’ in the street!” Bonnie said. “Special thanks to DJ Larry for the fantastic music and to Danny Lee of Uncle Dan’s Kettle Corn for handling the applause meter and for fixing my flat tire Saturday morning. And special thanks to our world class volunteer, Fern Tomey for greeting and registering the dancers.”

On February 13, Santini Marina Plaza will host Fort Myers Beach Got Talent. Watch for details in the Sand Paper.
