    STORMWATER MEETING

    The Town of Fort Myers Beach invites residents and businesses to a neighborhood meeting, Stormwater: Addressing Public Concerns on FR Mar 3 at 1pm in Town Hall. The project team will present stormwater design details such as outfalls, swales vs. closed drainage systems, backflow prevention and a preliminary stormwater design and timeline.

     

    WEIGHING IN ON THE WATER

    Join Congressman Francis Rooney, Fort Myers Beach Chamber President Jacki Liszak, Fish Tale Marina owner Al Durrett and Daniel Andrews of Captains for Clean Water as they provide the latest updates on water quality and quantity. This event on Saturday, March 4 from 4-5pm at Fish Tale Marina, 7225 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach, will include a panel discussion followed by a question and answer session.

     

    KIDS SHRIMP RUN

    Free beach run of 1 mile on the beach on SA Mar 4! Register 7-7:30am; Run begins at 8am. Meet at Gulf Beach Road. Run along beach to Connecticut and back. Shrimp princesses present awards.

     

    SHRIMP DINNER

    Enjoy our area’s finest delicacy, Gulf Pink Shrimp, at the monthly Shrimp Dinner offered at Historic St. Raphael’s Episcopal Church, 5601 Williams Dr. on Mar 4 from 5-7pm. All you can eat GULF shrimp, homemade cole slaw, baked beans, cornbread, beer, wine, soda and dessert. $20/per person.

     

    MORNING MEANDER

    A Nature Walk with a Bird Patrol Guide is offered on SA Mar 4 at 8am at Lakes Regional Park, 7330 Gladiolus Dr. Meet at Shelter A7. This easy walk offers the opportunity to see birds in native vegetation with experienced guides pointing out the many species in Lakes Park. Free with paid parking.     PATRICK’S DINNER DANCE

    The Knights of Columbus will host their annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner & Dance on SA Mar 18 in the Church of the Ascension Parish Hall. Live music for listening and dancing by Side-by-Side. Doors open at 5:30pm. Public Welcome. $25/person-available by calling Dennis at 239-440-5511.

    LIFELINE SCREENING

    St. Peter Lutheran Church will host a preventive health event on TH, Mar 9. Life Line Screening will offer affordable, non-invasive and painless screenings for potential health problems related to stroke, heart disease, abdominal aortic aneurysms and osteoporosis.     ITALIAN DINNER

    All are invited to the monthly Italian Dinner at Chapel by the Sea Silver Hall. This month the dinner has been moved to Mar 18th from 5-7pm to avoid conflicts with Shrimp Fest. Come for Spaghetti, meatballs, spicy sausage w/peppers and onions, salad, garlic bread, dessert and drinks. All are welcome. Just $10/adults; $5/kids 10 and under; $5/Public Safety Personnel in uniform or w/ID.

     

    WALKING CLUB

    Join this friendly group for an easy 30-min. walk around the Chapel by the Sea neighborhood or on the beach before returning to Chapel. Offered every Tuesday morning at 9:30am at Chapel by the Sea.

     

    PLAY BRIDGE

    The Women’s Club of Fort Myers Beach invites all bridge players to join them every Tuesday and Friday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. for a day of social bridge. Players rotate throughout the day completing 6 rounds. Bring a bagged lunch and enjoy good company and great bridge playing. Cost: $5 for non-members/$3 for members. Proceeds support various community activities around the island.     BEAUTIFUL BIRDS  OF BUNCHE BEACH

    Experience the birds of Bunche Beach with a Bird Patrol Guide on SA Mar 11 at 7:30am or TH Mar 30 at 5:30pm. Bunche is an excellent spot for both migrant and resident waders and shorebirds working the mudflats at low tide. Also waterfowl, raptors and warblers. Free with paid parking.     MOON WALK

    The Friends of Matanzas Pass Preserve will host their monthly ‘Moon Walk in the Preserve’ on SU Mar 12 at 7:15pm. This experiential hands-on program will awaken and sharpen participant’s senses of smell, touch, hearing and night vision. Join two volunteers carrying candle-lit lanterns through the Preserve as night descends and celebrate the darkness and the moon. Meet at the entrance to the Preserve behind the Historical Cottage on Bay Street. Program is free, but pre-registration is required. Adults only. Limited to 12 participants.      PAT’S DAY PARADE

    The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on FR Mar 17. Parade begins at 10am in Santini Plaza and marches to Church of the Ascension. That section of Estero Blvd will be closed from 9:45-10:45am. Pre-party begins at 8am at Santini Plaza. Call Ray Murphy to register your parade entry 239-591-8803.     BLOOMIN’ GOOD GARAGE SALE

    Help support the Estero Island Garden Club and the good work they do beautifying and supporting our community by attending their annual fundraiser garage sale. This year it will be a triple-play sale on SA Mar 18 from 8am-1:30pm in the cul-de-sac at the end of Clearview Blvd in Fairview Isles. Look for treasures of designer clothes, pillows, high-end household goods, holiday décor, jewelry, books, CD’s, purses and more! The Garden Club projects include The Beach School Box Garden, Beach Library Christmas decorations, summer camp scholarships, Bay Oaks garden, FMB welcome sign flowers and Time Square flowers/pots. Support the Garden Club and help them make Fort Myers Beach Bloom!

     

    WOUNDED WARRIOR RIDE

    Residents of The Groves RV Resort invite everyone to join them on their last monthly bike ride poker run to raise funds for the Wounded Warrior program. On March 24th, they will ride about 10 miles with a few stops. Cost is $10/ride with half going to Wounded Warriors. To participate, bring your bike to The Groves lot 228 at 12:30pm to sign in.
