Weighing in on the Water
Join Congressman Francis Rooney, Fort Myers Beach Chamber President Jacki Liszak, Fish Tale Marina owner Al Durrett and Daniel Andrews of Captains for Clean Water as they provide the latest updates on water quality and quantity. This event on Saturday, March 4 from 4-5pm at Fish Tale Marina, 7225 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach, will include a panel discussion followed by a question and answer session.
The single biggest issue impacting our Southwest Florida community is water quality. Our economy is forever tied to our ecology, and clean water flowing through our rivers, streams and estuaries is the lifeblood of that ecology.
“Water quality is precious to me and it is what attracted me to Southwest Florida over two decades ago,” said Congressman Francis Rooney. “I am meeting every day with stakeholders and colleagues in Congress to fix our water. For far too long our community in Southwest Florida has been subjected to water quality issues that are hurting our local economy and forcing businesses to close their doors. We need the federal government to do their fair share – that was promised to us.”
FMB Chamber President Jacki Liszak said, “Our economy and very way of life here on Fort Myers Beach is driven by beautiful, clean water and a healthy, thriving ecosystem. The Ft. Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce is ready to work with Congressman Rooney and Captains for Clean Water to advocate for our water and ensure that our beaches and estuaries are protected for generations to come.”
