Islanders will be treated to a wealth of wonderful music this season with multiple concerts offered right here on the Island. Here are some of the amazing musical performances scheduled for the next two weeks
Broadway & More
Jan 11, 7pm, St. Peter Lutheran Church
Mark Sanders and Lee Van Asten present a “Broadway & More” concert featuring Broadway favorites and popular standards from the American Songbook. Sanders has appeared in numerous productions including the Broadway tour of Fiddler on the Roof and is a favorite vocalist with the Gulf Coast Symphony at the Barbara B. Mann. Van Asten has entertained Southwest Florida audiences with piano and vocal performances for over 30 years. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Free admission. Donations accepted. Jan 14, 7pm, Chapel by the Sea
Two talented FGCU seniors will present masterpieces of the piano literature.
Pedro Che will perform important works by Beethoven, Prokofieff, and Liszt. Born in Trujillo, Peru, Pedro holds a full scholarship to FGCU and has distinguished himself by being chosen as the Piano Winner of the Young Artists Awards Competition sponsored by the Alliance for the Arts of Fort Myers along with several other prizes.
Manuel Molina, from Lima, Peru, will perform classic works by Bach, Beethoven, and Liszt. He will be joined by his teacher, Dr. Michael Baron for a duet. The recipient of several piano competition prizes, most recently he won second prize in the Christine Kefferstan National Piano Competition at West Virginia University competing against graduate students from major conservatories across the country.

Glen Leonard & Hitsville
Jan 15, 7pm, Fish Tale Marina
The Greater Fort Myers Beach Friends of the Arts popular Boat Barn Concert Series, hosted by Fish Tale Marina, kicks off on Friday, January 15th with an exciting presentation of a national touring band, ‘Hitsville Live’, featuring Glenn Leonard, former lead singer of the world-famous Temptations. Glenn was asked to join the Temptations in 1975 as their new lead singer and performed with the group until 1983, singing on 10 albums.
In 2002, Leonard decided to reunite some of his former band mates to share their music and to give back to the fans. Mr. Leonard hand-selected his current group, all with a long history with Glenn and in a variety of national recording groups. They’ve had amazing reviews worldwide because of the superb vocal talent, showmanship on stage, and personalities off stage. Glenn Leonard is a 2013 inductee into the R&B Music Hall of Fame. Talking about his upcoming concert on Fort Myers Beach, Glenn says he is amazed at how much people have kept Motown music in their hearts through the years. “I am extremely grateful for being able to do what I love and continue to spread the love and joy.”

Jan 20, 6:30pm, Chapel by the Sea
Robert “Bob” Fraumann will present a special inspirational/musical program that will include a 30-minute piano concert including an original blend of classical and Christian melodies, plus selections from his CD, “To God be the Glory” and hymn requests. A reception will follow the program, w/copies of his book, “God’s Blessed Angel” and CD available for purchase. Fraumann is a graduate of Asbury University and Westminster Choir College and has served in music ministry for 60 years, utilizing his extensive musical talents in organ, piano, voice and conducting. Bob has performed in Carnegie Hall with Leonard Bernstein & at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC. He has been a Minister of Music in 9 churches, and planned and directed over 50 youth choir tours in the United States and Jamaica.
Jan 21, 7pm, Fish Tale Marina
The Boat Barn Concert Series continues on January 21st bringing fan favorite Al Holland back for a third time. “Big Al” Holland has been internationally known as the keyboard player and as a vocalist for the world-famous Platters. This year, “Big Al” brings along his friends from Nashville and promises to delight the audience with his oldies, rhythm and blues and Motown sounds. Al is very excited about this performance. “I love doing these concerts down at Fish Tale, and having my friends join me on stage is going to be fun for me and a treat for the audience.” Holland is regarded as a true entertainer playing in a large variety of venues and private events throughout Southwest Florida to astounding reviews.
