Community Day Honors First Responders


The 2nd Annual Fish Tale Marina Community Day is celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 10:30am– 2:30pm at 7225 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach. This free event celebrating first responders and the close of summer includes children’s games, a DJ, face painting, balloon art, fingerprinting provided by Sheriff’s Office, Fort Myers Beach Fire Department’s Safety Trailer and a demonstration by Mercury Motors. Refreshments like snow cones, cotton candy and hot dogs will be available.

Grouper Grapple

In conjunction with Fish Tale Marina Community Day, the 4th Annual Grouper Grapple returns to Fish Tale Marina on Friday and Saturday, August 12 & 13. The Grouper Grapple and the Freedom Alliance foundation provide the veterans with transportation to and from the event, hotel accommodations, breakfast, lunch and dinner Thursday – Sunday, Back Bay fishing trips, commemorative plaques, entry into the tournament and tournament events tournament, specialized apparel and a chance to join their brothers in arms in an atmosphere designed just for them. Marine Corps Veteran and Nashville musician, Connor Myers performs.

Founded by Brian Peachey in 2013 as a means to give back to the community and show support to combat wounded veterans that have served our country, the tournament has grown from 16 teams to over 35 teams and 160 anglers last year.
