    The Fort Myers Beach Art Association’s annual holiday show & sale, Art Divine, begins on SA, Dec 10 at the FMBAA’s gallery on the corner of Shell Mound and Donora and runs through Jan 12. There will be a variety of pieces available – both framed and unframed priced at or below $150. Gallery is open Monday-Saturday from 10am-3pm.     Join the Estero Island Historic Society for a festive Holiday Open House at the Historic Cottage at 161 Bay Road. This year they will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary Open House on SA, Dec 10 from 2-5 p.m. The Historic Cottage will be decorated and filled with Christmas cheer. Stop by to see their new exhibits and historic photographs. Members will be holding a bake sale (famous for rum balls!!) during the Open House.


    Join Fort Myers Beach firefighters who will prepare breakfast for this popular holiday fundraiser for the Beach Kids Foundation. SA Dec 10, 7:30-10:30am, Clubhouse at Red Coconut RV Park.


    From 8-11am, on SU Dec 11, check out all the baked goods and tasty treats at Bayside Estates’ Recreation Hall in Bayside Estates. The Bayside Socialites sponsor this event and is an organization that contributes both time and money to charitable organizations in the community.


    The joy of the season will resonate throughout the sanctuary on Sunday, December 11th at 6:15pm as The Village Church Choir, the Celebration Ringers and the Southwest Florida Festival Orchestra present ‘A Christmas Celebration’ at the Village Church, Shell Point Retirement Community.     The Friends of Matanzas Pass will hold their monthly ‘Moon Walk in the Preserve’ on TU Dec 13 at 5:150pm. This experiential hands-on program will awaken and sharpen participant’s senses of smell, touch, hearing and night vision. Join two volunteers carrying candle-lit lanterns through the Preserve as night descends and celebrate the darkness and the moon. Meet at the entrance to the Preserve behind the Historical Cottage on Bay Street. Program is free, but pre-registration is required. Adults only. Limited to 12 participants.     Santini Marina Plaza presents a Community Christmas Celebration on SA, Dec 17 from 10am-2pm featuring the carols of Christmas with the Lehigh Acres Children’s Choir to Santini Marina Plaza sharing Christmas music at this annual holiday celebration. The Island’s favorite karaoke DJ, Brenda Berringer will host Holiday Karaoke from 10am-2pm, with the Children’s Choir performing at 11am. Step up to the microphone and share your favorite holiday classic! The Artisan and Fresh Market will be open with 30+ creative artisans offering unique hand-made gift ideas.     The Railroad Museum of South Florida and Train Village at Lakes Regional Park, 7330 Gladiolus Drive, Fort Myers, is featuring the Holiday Express from Dec. 16-30. The Express runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. MO-FR; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. SA & SU. Fares are $5 for passengers 6 years old and older, and free for children 1 to 5 years old. Children must be at least a year old to ride. Santa will be in the village through Dec. 23. The train will be closed Christmas Eve from 6 to 9 p.m. and all day Christmas.


    The tenth annual Santa Fest is planned for 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 16, at the Wa-Ke Hatchee Recreation Center, 16760 Bass Road, Fort Myers. The event involves holiday crafts, snacks and a chance to see Santa. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras. Admission is an unwrapped toy donation or $5 per child.     This year’s Fort Myers Beach Friends of the Arts Winter Concert Series is going to be is better than ever. The Friends, whose mission is to promote and support theater, music, culinary and visual arts on Fort Myers Beach and the surrounding community with a vision to make the arts on Fort Myers Beach accessible for all to enjoy and discover, look forward to offering some great entertainment beginning next month. In early 2017 former member of 50’s and 60’s group, The Platters, Al Holland and Friends will perform on January 26. February 24 means it’s time to catch a wave with coastal sounds of Beach Boys-related California Surf, Inc. Demand for this Naples-based, father and son led-band, Paul Todd and Paul Todd, Jr. brings them back to the Island on March 30. Finally, to bring it on home will be the first ever Southwest Florida appearance of the Atlantic City Boys singing the crooning tunes of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons on April 20.

    The FMB Yacht Club recently met to plan their 2017 season, including both land and sea events. Cocktail parties, wine tasting and theater, were a smattering of land events planned and coordinated by Vice Commodore Rosemary Davison. Sally Dorn, Fleet Captain, directed the organization of all the day boating and overnight trips. New members are invited to join this great organization.
